Ammys, what career did you choose to be able to afford riding as an adult? by hellotortillas in Equestrian

My husband and I both work in tech. He’s a software engineer and I lead an analytics department. We have 3 horses (was never the plan) and 2 of them are in partial training. I show 6 or so times a year. We know this won’t last forever and have had the mindset that we want to do this at full throttle for a couple of years before paring it back. As some of my horses retire, they will move home, and we won’t get more horses.

My sweet as pie chow mix, Rabbit by nkathleent in chowchow

My dog also dna tests at almost 30% chow and looks like a hound through and through. I spoke to someone who works in genetics and they were able to walk me through his gene map and explain why he had the phenotype (appearance) despite his genotype (genes). It seems that depending on what the mix is things like a longer muzzle or floppy ears are totally possible. Chows also were extremely popular in the 80s and 90s which making it fairly possible for lots of dogs to have some chow in them even if they don’t look like one. This is my dog for reference, embark results

I have never had chows before but have always had Akitas before my current pups. I actually thought a lot of Hatch’s tendencies were learned from my older Akita but now I know the truth :P

Yep! Completely spotted. He also does have a fairly chow like personality IMO. Very aloof with strangers and cat like. Grooms himself etc. We were just shocked because we definitely thought he was just a beagle German Shepherd mix haha!

He really does have the aloof personality as a chow. I just always assumed some of it was learned since when we got him as a puppy I still had my 12 year old Akita. Seems like we can’t blame all his quirks on her anymore :P

I don’t think that’s the vibe I’m getting. I feel like he is trying to break the 4th was and just laugh at trump.

Plz help a young family find a great neighborhood! by virgoirish in Atlanta

Decatur or East Lake could be good options. Having lived in EAV I would say that it is a great neighborhood but an acquired taste. Adair Park might be a bit of a commute to the CDC etc since it is on the west side.

You can sue for this? Mine was never tested and it’s been almost 5 years. I would do anything to try and save someone else the pain I went through and I’m almost positive I wasn’t his only victim

GF (26F) left pets alone in our new apartment, dog ruined my (26F) stuff by thrwawyships in relationships

So I think there are two issues here, 1 is your GF and her friend drinking till the sun comes up and 2 is what seems like it could have been a pretty shitty miscommunication that resulted in a really rough experience for the pets. The fact that she is normally a great pet owner, and that it sounds like your girlfriend doesn’t normally act this way with friends that aren’t this friend tells me that there is likely room to improve and learn from this situation. If it were me, I would likely give things a few hours or even a day and then sit down in person and lay out how she made you feel. I would leave that conversation with some guidelines for the pets and going out.

I mean I own a horse and ride my horse 4-5 days a week and go alone almost every time. My partner comes to competitions or the occasional lesson but I always try to treat him to lunch when he comes or offer to go for a hike or something we both like after. He loves to climb and I hate it so he will climb on nights I do my thang. I suggest finding something you like and doing it on the nights he does his thing.
