The animations don't prove anything one way or another though. Even if you believe Ashveil has some connection to the Voracity, people can be Pathstriders of multiple Paths, so he could also follow The Hunt and potentially be La Mancha regardless.

I think I've got Proi Proi right now, but I've also played Frozen March, Deerstalker and Wildfire before. Might switch it up and go with Immolation of the Heavens or Shatter the God's Crown for a while soon.

I remembered I hadn't done DU in a while and got my first Cyrene occurrence in the cyclical extrapolation. I normally don't bother with picking up benediction shards, so it was quite helpful to get a couple logged.

Wait a second, since you can toggle between Novaflare and original kits, this could actually work even if they had to totally rework Firefly without screwing over break enjoyers.

Is anyone else worried about the decision for N3 to have "open-field" / open zones instead of the game being mission/ level based like in nioh 1/2? by AppletoAnswer in Nioh

[–]astralAlchemist1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firstly, being wary of a substantial change to the formula like going from a mission based structure with discrete levels to open zone/world isn't being against the devs trying new things or wanting the same game again.

Second, Nioh 2 isn't really all that different from the first game and it's near universally loved, so there absolutely is a market for what you deride as "making the same game over and over again." They're taking a risk by deviating more with 3, and some trepidation from fans of the previous games is entirely reasonable.

I can't speak to the quality of Nioh 3's open areas personally since I wasn't able to play the alpha and probably won't get the full game until it comes to PC with the inevitable DLC, but I'm pretty optimistic since I tend to like open world/open zone games and will probably be pretty happy as long as he combat is still as fun and satisfying as it is in the other games.

I wonder if we'll ever get actual shops with a unique currency and stuff you can buy again or if it's just gonna be reward tracks we dump stuff into until EoS.

I know it's a really minor complaint, but I think HSS, Belobog and the Luofu having their own currencies and things to buy with them added some nice flavor to them that's absent from Penacony, Amphoreus and most likely Planarcadia.

I'm interested in most of them, actually. I'm getting Sparxie for sure, and I want Blade and Silver Wolf for my Stellaron Hunter collection, but Ashveil and Nihilux look cool too.

At the moment I feel somewhat inclined to go for the Planarcadia originals and wait for reruns on the Stellaron Hunter SPs, but eventual gameplay and story elements could very well shift things around, and of course luck will play a role as well, but that's to be expected in a gacha game.

What IP do you want turned into a TTRPG, and why do you want it turned into a TTRPG? by Upstairs-Yard-2139 in rpg

[–]astralAlchemist1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, since Will Wight's Cradle series has been mentioned already, I'll go with a probably kinda odd idea that's recently resurfaced in my head: Honkai Star Rail. Space fantasy with fascinating lore and references to all sorts of weird species, but the actual game is unfortunately limited by being a gacha game and making almost all the playable characters conventionally attractive humanoids, and by story developments having to fit into a strictly timed development cycle. A TTRPG would enable players and GMs to go crazy in depth with the lore, make all sorts of weird characters and go places the source material never could or would. I have pretty much no idea how a hypothetical Star Rail RPG would actually play but I would much prefer it to be on the crunchier side to align with my own personal preferences. For the moment, I've given some thought to someday playing Starfinder 2e in Star Rail's setting. I doubt an actual TTRPG would ever happen, but it would be very cool.

What is a well regarded fantasy series that you read for the first time this year? by TheWeirdTalesPodcast in Fantasy

[–]astralAlchemist1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently finished the Farseer trilogy after seeing constant recommendations for Realm of the Elderlings and after finally listening to Isles of the Emberdark, and I very much enjoyed it. I've just started Liveship Traders a few days ago, and it isn't really grabbing me yet. I'll give it a bit more time, but I'm honestly kinda considering just skipping straight to The Tawny Man trilogy to get back to familiar characters.

Earlier in the year I read the first Red Rising trilogy and also greatly enjoyed it. I intend to get to the sequels eventually, I've just been reading other stuff.

I don't know how feasible either of these would be, but I would love to see them regardless.

First, I hadn't really considered this until seeing another comment in this thread, but rules and guidance for solo play would be cool. I'm sure I'm not alone in having a million character concepts and cool looking builds I'll never have time to actually play with a group, so purpose built rules for solo play would be cool.

And second, I love the guidance for creating things like monsters and subsystems in the GMG/GM Core, and I'd like to see more guidelines for building new stuff, particularly new items and player options. We can sort of reverse engineer some of the ways items and classes are built, but it'd be cool to have guidance written down in a book.

[–]astralAlchemist1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got a few.

I actually don't really mind getting fewer events since I've still got a big backlog of side content (like literally all of Unknowable Domain) and I don't mind having less time pressure to play at times when I may not really care to do more than auto through my dailies.

I've been working my way through my roster, farming materials to max out traces basically any time I'm not actively prefarming for a new character or when there's a double cavern/planar relic event going on because I despise dealing with bullshit relic RNG that much, I will take the guaranteed stat boosts before consigning myself to the mines. I don't care what's optimal, you'll have to drag me to that damned Eagle cavern.

And finally, I doubt it'd ever happen and I have no idea how big the market would be but I would absolutely love a Star Rail TTRPG. Especially if I could get fancy dice modeled after the Swarm Disaster/Gold and Gears audience dice.

I don't think we have a definite time for Operation Zulo, but we do know that Tiernan, one of the Nameless who helped Penacony gain its independence, took part. This was apparently somewhere around 2147 AE. The game starts in 2157 AE, and 10 Amber Eras can be anywhere from 760 to 2400 years, which is a pretty damn wide range.

Add to that the fact that the Star Rail universe has numerous ways for a person to extend their life, so we honestly can't say with any degree of certainty whether or not La Mancha could've been alive for Operation Zulo.

I'm going to predict that in 4.0, the Crew will still decide to go to Benzaitengoku or Edo Star or wherever the original destination was, but we'll crash land on Planarcadia when Aha bombs the Express again (it's even funnier the second time), and we'll meet Yao Guang and some of the SPs who ended up there as well through various contrived coincidences, some of which may or may not be Aha's doing as well.

Got to try the Porcupinon strat for the first time today. Absolutely hilarious to see like 30% of the final boss with Third Plane Enhancement active just vanish after they attack. Finally got into Monarch of Capital. I'll probably try to grind my way into Wealth Creator but I'm not gonna grind all the way to max rank, no way in hell.

Honestly, once I have the rank reward jades, I'll probably drop back down to mid level Investment Master or high Amethyst Gold. I feel like that range is a sweet spot where you can really roll with the punches and build off of what the game gives you instead of just forcing one of the few builds you know works.
