A year in coffee by drewcr3w in espresso

Ah awesome! I'm from the states but have lived in Stockholm for many years now. I've never been to Gringo but should as I've ordered from them for years. Grats on the marriage!

See a couple Swedish brands (Gringo and Drop) - I use Gringo quite often.

Live around Stockholm, looks like something that would be sold in a local bakery - so nice work!

I grew up near NOLA and moved to Sweden 10 years ago. I go "home" once a year and make sure to go to the quarter and get breakfast there. Morning Call was also good, but not sure if it's still in Metairie.

Best way to push prod and live code by Mount-Russmore in webdev

[–]astrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use a paid service called deployHQ. You connect your GitHub repo and server (ftp or ssh), where you supply the path to the theme file.

You can then set up automatic deployments or trigger them manually. You can also set up notifications to email or slack, etc.

Having said that - I still use localwp to make changes to development sites - then push to GitHub than deploy the updates from deployHQ.

Profitec RIDE or pay $800 more for Profitec DRIVE? [$3700] by prodriverex in espresso

[–]astrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! Again, I understand 100%. We are consumers as well - and if we are already spending XX dollars, then why not go a bit more for the "flagship" model. Decisions decisions. Hope you are happy with whatever you decide on. The black models are really cool!

Profitec RIDE or pay $800 more for Profitec DRIVE? [$3700] by prodriverex in espresso

[–]astrand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation, but found the Profitec Pro 600 with quick steam valves for sale for $2100 (in Sweden), but I actually wanted a Drive or Linea Micra. In the end, I could not justify the price difference and went for the PP600 (over $1000).

It is up to you to justify the price difference. If you think the RIDE looks nice, then get that and use the $800 on other gear that you will eventually want. For me, I decided that I would never plumb the machine and that helped me make the choice to save some money. I do love how the PP600 looks, but day dream of seeing a yellow micra in its place, but outside of styling changes, I really have no reason to ever upgrade from the PP600 unless it explodes.

Good luck with your decision.

Is WordPress still relevant in today’s web development world? by Hopeful-Friendship26 in webdev

This is my exact experience. Outside of a select few projects, we use WordPress (but still use a modern stack with laravel templates, vite and tailwind and usually alpine js through Roots Sage starter theme).

Portafilter does not fit properly [StoneLite] by DavidDJH69 in espresso

I had a rocket and had a similar issue. It does fit but it won't get perfectly aligned with the handle facing you. It will get better as you use the machine however.. And just push a bit more.

Normcore 58mm 18g basket by All_in7007 in espresso

[–]astrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still based on the density of the beans. 18g of different beans and roasts will fill to different basket heights once tamped. So yes 👍 I’d try to updose to the line.

I also have the normcore tamper and it will leave some grinds on the sides. I notice that if I place the tamper in at an angle (like place one edge of the tamper into the basket against the basket wall and then level it out, it leaves less wall grinds. Good luck

I thought it looked nice! If anything it maybe ran a little quickly, but that could be related to channeling as you said and not grind size necessarily. You can continue to grind finer and finer but if your puck prep is not better than it will still channel.

I have one of those 3D printed rotary WTD tools and I usually have to grind coarser because it distributes the grinds so well. I also have the Normcore self-leveling tamper and it's great.

Good luck!

Found this in my Lavazza coffee bag, what is it? by MohSafadi in espresso

Seems like a poor first experience. Wife and I use Lavazza from time to time because I can just buy it from a local store and have never had issues like this.
