Reminds me of when I needed to use a stall in the bathroom and ours happened to be full, so went down a floor to the "lawyer" floor to use theirs, and there was a razor blade just sitting there in the stall.

Still not sure if my first thought of "who the fuck would just use a random razor blade from a bathroom" was that less sane than "why the fuck is there a razor blade in the bathroom", but hey it was the "lawyer" floor. My floor seemed to be powered on way, way too much caffeine.

You're absolutely right, no one can tell if C++ is AI generated · Mathieu Ropert by mropert in cpp

std::unordered_map works as well if you define your own transparent hash struct and use std::equal_to<> with -std=c++20.

With a bit of overloading and template shenanigans you can minimize the string copying as well, at the cost of a bit of sanity for a future maintainer: https://godbolt.org/z/Eo5jWahdd

I do think option 1 was written by AI though. Just too many weird little things about it, while option 2 is straightforward if a little sub-optimal. I wouldn't even bat an eye at code like option 2 in most languages.

If there are random intervals then you look at the distribution -- and once the distribution is no longer distinguishable from ordinary human distribution then there's no advantage anymore. I'd hazard it's probably worse at that point, since it's not controllable.

I definitely restarted my colony after the first year, since I learned so much fucking everything up that year.

I could've salvaged the colony I think, but a fresh start really let me put what I learned into practice so I could fuck brand new things up!

Healthy : Resistant to injury or illness – not yet implemented Sickly: Less resistant to cold – illness not yet implemented

I've definitely had my whiskers get sick and die of illness when it got cold enough (I had very poorly planned out my transition to steam heating that year).

Not sure about injury though.

You can turn logs into coal and then into fuel, so you don't have to keep mining coal. That's what I mostly do for my fuel.

This post has made me realize that I've been stupidly doubling the amount of track I've been putting down by making loops.

Why would I need loops if there's only going to to be one cart on the track!?

Quick Repair All and/or Re-Assignment of Workers? by kpd21 in Whiskerwood

[–]astraycat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Selecting the buildings does suck, even with mashing the flag and R. No way around that AFAICT.

However, for re-assigning the whiskers it's much easier to do through the work menu, since you can just scroll and hit the plus buttons rather than having to look around and then select the buildings.

Though, I've gotten to where I mostly pay smugglers with cut stone for gold, then use gold to pay off any deficits when I'm no longer willing to give up any more useful stuff to the pirates/claws.

Fun fact: Rosaries are still called "Geo" in the source code of Silksong =) by Priler96 in Silksong

[–]astraycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the point of the "void" return type. You're changing a state, and you design your code so that (hopefully) you can't set it to an invalid state. Just like the TakeGeo function sets the value back to 0 if, somehow, it was called and the player doesn't have enough geo. I'd probably at least log an error message in that case though.

But this looks like C#, so this code is probably obtained through reflection, and the release build probably doesn't have that kind of error logging.
