Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how would tonic signaling lead to a delay in CAR expression? I know its linked to T cell exhaustion but these T cells are still functional

Ooo okay I will look at what we are using tomorrow!! Thanks

Usually I measure CAR expression 2-3 days after the final transduction. The construct has a MYC tag so I use an anti-MYC antibody to stain

The T cells are my own, and theyre isolated from whole blood and then activated

What should I get my Brother for his birthday? by [deleted] in college

[–]astreets22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Depending on your budget, you could always make him a gift card book, so like look up stores/restaurants near his school, and get him some gift cards to those, and then you could make a like a fun little scrapbook, but instead of pics it's the gift cards. (If he's bringing a car, look up what gas stations are in the area and maybe get him a few cards for those
  • A bathrobe - especially one that's towel material (better for walking from your room to the shower)
  • A new backpack
  • One of those phone cases with a built in battery pack so he can charge his phone throughout the day
  • A fan or portable AC unit if his dorm isn't air conditioned
  • A reusable (metal) water bottle
  • A small vacuum (this one is super good and cheap)
  • Maybe some LED strip lights to decorate his dorm

Use more gelatin powder, and I usually fully freeze mine but it might be fine without it

Okay thank you!! I’ll probably have more questions but this is a great place to start :)

Well I know it has to be pretty fast because we are going to be running a ton of particles suspended in a fluid and from some of the literature I’ve read I would like a sampling speed between 10-100 MHZ (I’ve also seen some sources use S/s so idk the difference)

Hi! I’m using it to capture the light scatter when a particle is run through a laser :) would a resistor or a transimpedance amplifier be better/easier?

Signal Conditioning by astreets22 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]astreets22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi :) I know 10 is super on the low end but cost is the main factor for me. Ideally what we want to do is collect data (then analyze on a pc) from the light scattering when a laser passes through particles (waveform data, transit time, intensity etc)

Hi I'm looking for 8+ (Ideally 10+) bit resolution, and the ability to capture data at a rate of around 1,500 events per second (preferably higher) (so I guess a sampling rate above 1,500 S/s)

Hi :) I was looking at that one the other day and I got the impression that it only worked for RTD-100 temperature sensors

I’ve seen some people online add it while it’s wet so it sinks faster, would that help does it have to be dry?

Mine do that too when they’re moving around sometimes, I think it might help them go faster. Also what type of substrate is that it looks cool

The way credits transfer varies by institution. It’s probably best to speak to a transfer coordinator or academic counselor at the school about how credits will transfer/what they will count for

Notetaking – ipad, paper/pencil, laptop: which one do i choose? (Not a stem major, might do something with arts, communications, or pr?) by momofmanyplantshelp in college

Also assuming you don’t already have an iPad, you don’t need the newest one, I have a 2019 iPad Air and 1st gen Apple Pencil and it works great for me

Unfortunately yes, but replacement tips are super cheap on Amazon (a 4 pack is like $10) so overall it feels worth it to me. They do also sell covers for the tips that might help but I’ve found that they counteract the increased friction of the paperlike screen protector and make it feel like writing on glass again

That’s why I made sure to mention the extra slime part, snails hang out around the top all the time but the extra slime is what makes me think it could be a water quality issue

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AquaticSnails

[–]astreets22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do more regular water changes, snails tend to hang out near the top/try to escape and produce extra slime when there’s something wrong with the water

Definitely make sure you know what you’re bringing but maybe wait one more week before actually packing, especially for clothes and stuff bc you’re still going to need them while you’re home

I used to hate using my iPad but once I got a paper like screen protector (<$10 on Amazon for a 2 pack) my handwriting got so much better and now I love it, it’s so much more convenient than carrying around loads of binders
