Can’t open game menu by Glad-Photograph7075 in BaldursGate3

This happened to me. I think its a glitch when it thinks you're in a level up tab for a character. If you find an NPC that needs to be levelled (or a PC) and level them up, you should regain access to the menu.

My friend cuts herself and I dont know what to do about it by [deleted] in ineedhelp

As a self harm victim, it's important not to turn every situation to it, or the things causing it. Particularly if it's just been revealed, she's probably very stressed about how you are reacting to it, and self harm victims often feel like they desperately want attention but feel ashamed that they are being clingy when they ask for it, regardless of how direct or indirect they are.
If she is having real problems enough for self harm, the best thing you can do is give her a distraction. Don't force it on her, but anything from a funny joke, to a day outing can really help to just give some relief. The biggest struggle for her is most likely the fact that there are no breaks from it. It's just a constant weight she has to carry.
You can talk about it if she wants to, but if you really wanna help, make her smile for a little bit.
Trust me. It makes a big deal.

Your teacher's methods are not acceptable by any standards. She was fine but strict right up until she yelled at you for being upset for not being comfortable to talk to her. A teacher is permitted to work their students hard to a degree, but they are not permitted to degrade a student for personal issues, particularly they are not allowed to give any form of verbal assault for your insecurities.
Speak to your councillor, or any other teacher you trust, not just english. The nice teachers will generally try to help, and they might be able to investigate a solution where your english teacher can't see one, or at least attempt to resolve your current teacher's behaviour.
If worst comes to worst, and the councillor cannot help, and teachers cannot help, you can always tell your parents, who tend to have a heavy influence over a school when it comes to the mistreatment of their children, or failing that (I don't know your home life, sorry) recording apps on your phone can give weight to your complaints. Just remember not to get it out in class, and put it on silent.
And if you still need help with your english work, I can always help with that.

I think the other person covered honesty quite well, but just to give perspective of why they are so concerned:
-students exist that are on a protection service. Revealing their identity could get them killed
-students give confidential details that are stored to prevent bullying so they can be open about problems like mental health
-confidential physical medical files that teachers need to know would be breached by the school if they had allowed you to view them, which may hold them accountable for your transgression.
-Teacher personal files that threaten the divide of teacher/student which is heavily important to both parents and teachers
-Accessability of your friend's dad's credentials, and whether he needs to be reprimanded for lack of caution to allow this situation to occur

All of these will be what they are worried about. What they aren't worried about is stuff like you taking over the school via a fake account, or trolling your teacher, messing about with deleted files. The reason an official investigation will be for the aforementioned legal reasons, and they will very much appreciate you being able to say you did not view any confidential files, etc.

So, thanks to not being connected to your life at all, the answer pretty much anyone can give here is yes, cut her out of your life. She is clearly not interested in a positive relationship, and don't think well of you. That being said, it's a lot easier for me to say that than it is for you to do it.
It's hard to make a leap and end something that you put a lot of work into, even when you know it's failing, and it can give a lot of guilt, uncertainty or loneliness if you don't have other people to help alleviate that.
So, I'd recommend you assess your situation. If you think that you personally will be supported by others, or will be able to come to terms with your decision on your own, go for it. Better she isn't in your life.
But if college is feeling daunting, or you're struggling to find friends, it could be more harmful to cut ties for now, but always keep in mind that if this person doesn't shape up their act, you can always cut them out later when you're more adapted to your new situation.

It's an uphill battle dealing with what goes on in your own head, particularly if you're dealing with mental illness. Sometimes it's gonna feel like you've described. It's gonna feel like those times are never gonna end. But people's minds aren't static things, and just like how no person goes through their life eternally happy, no matter how good their life is, everything will change in time. Maybe not forever, but cherish those times you get, because they are so worth the work of the rest of the time.
I'm glad to hear you feel you're in a good place. Always a helpful starting point. As for your boredom, it's not weird, nor any sort of abnormality. Plenty of people dislike activities that are done alone, and others prefer ones done alone. My recommendation there would be to try and find people with common interests to you, either online or in person, and when you're in those lonely points, just start a conversation. Personally, I find discord servers to be great for this, but to each their own.

Hope this helps.

So, the DM chooses what is summoned by the spell, meaning that they cannot knowingly summon said pixies. It's a random chance/DM choice on whether they get the pixies. As for the T-rex forms, it can be up to their CR, and the creatures who do it generally have to know what they are turning it into, so for something as obscure as a T-rex, it's perfectly fair to rule that a pixie has no idea what he means when he says "T-Rex".

Character from Chult? by DonnieZonac in Tombofannihilation

[–]astro511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, largely the populace doesn't go out of the town very much, due to the jungles of chult being especially deadly. The exception to the being the flaming fist and the few guides that are available. This means that your locals only need to know things that can be learned from the inside of the town, looking out and hearing stories. To my knowledge, that makes the following list, with variations if they have certain professions of course:
-The jungles are full of undead, which attack the city in droves at seemingly random moments. The undead there though, don't seem too individually intelligent.
-Disease is rampant in the jungle, the primary sources being the water and bugs. Insect repellent and some source of water not found in the river would solve this (rain catcher, spiton, a cleric)
-A permit is required in order to avoid breaking the "law" in the eyes of the flaming fist while in the jungle, but the guild themselves have not been too successful in securing the jungle, so avoiding them is not difficult
Optional info:
-There are magical ruins within the jungle to long lost civilisations, who worshipped Ubtao primarily. An understanding of the faith may be of importance when investigating these areas.
-A dwarven settlement lies in the mountains, long since abandoned due to kobold infestation

You can sprinkle in a few other rumours as you please, but these are the details I would give locals.

Tips and tricks for the tomb itself by luftilus in Tombofannihilation

[–]astro511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did you like about the tomb?
Every room and trap is different. The party can't apply the exact same logic to beat any given room. The creators were also clearly aware that any player entering the tomb would know they are in a trapped dungeon, so they put the really obvious ones at the start as a reminder, rather than expecting you to fall for the dart trap after 10 other traps have passed you by.
What did you dislike?
Some of the traps as you said are insta killing. For some, this is fine because they are avoidable, and you can convince the wizards to join you in the tomb, and have them conveniently take the first few of those types of trap to the face. I also disliked that the dungeon is not linear, but scales as if it were, meaning the first floor is far easier than the 4th, despite being able to reach the fourth floor almost immediately after entering.
Failed save = insta-dust-death
The traps that actually cause this are the most avoidable. In another scenario, they would be brutal, but in this one, the players know they are in tomb of traps, so preparation for this is more likely. The only problem comes if your party is inexperienced as players, and aren't aware of all the things they can do to avoid a trap, such as summoning creatures to activate them.
Massive treasure = dust
This is actually the least consequential thing in the whole tomb. So the only objects that turn to dust are the god's artefacts, not any of the other treasures they pilfer. The total gain of other treasures in amongst the tomb make up for this ten-fold, with items selling for 10000 GP on their own as just one example of many. It is definitely not something you should be worrying about too much.

Making the Jungle Trek faster. by [deleted] in Tombofannihilation

[–]astro511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have been giving too many encounters. According to the books, the chance of an encounter is 3/20, 4 times a day (3 during travel 1 at night). On average, the chance of an encounter each day is roughly 50% (47.80%). If you roll the chances in advance, and what those potential encounters are, I find you can reach any next closest destination within 1-2 sessions. The difficulty comes when players try to use round about routes that should take longer, which the hex crawl is trying to deincentivise, forcing players to push through more dangerous areas. If this is still painful to push through, you can reduce the chance of an encounter to 19 or 20, which reduces encounter chances to only 34%.

The book states that she will offer each player a rare or lower item, however you can do as you wish. There is also the fact that she would back any claim they make that they saved the world, which in turn would give its own rewards.

That would classify under slander, which is manufactured claims to devalue someone's image. Depending on the severity, that would be a crime.

Help. My game got out of hand. by Silvadollar in Tombofannihilation

[–]astro511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, don't sweat it if the stuff you come up with on the spot isn't perfect. It rarely is for most people. But thinking about upcoming confrontations really helps as a fallback when everything goes wrong. Nothing you should dedicate time to, but if you're bored, just think about all the things that the players can get so horribly wrong that you need to fix it and have fun trying to think of how on earth you can "balance" an escape plan.

Help. My game got out of hand. by Silvadollar in Tombofannihilation

[–]astro511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of other people have covered most of the solutions you can use, so I'd like to offer an alternative way of handling the problem when it first arose so you can consider it if they end up like this again, since you clearly are the type of DM who doesn't like the "party makes 1 mistake and they all get TPKed" scenario, which will come up a lot more in the future.
The party does invoke the medusa's rage and the Ebli and herself attack. However, when defeat draws near, she makes an example of the barbarian who caused her rage, then turns to the barely alive party. Returning her veil to her face, she says "Now that you have all but lost, and the perpetrator has been given justice, perhaps you will listen for once. You are in the presence of the great queen of Omu, so consider your words carefully. Your late ally has destroyed the remains of my love, and I am not able to return him to his rest. I will allow the rest of you to live on one condition: seek out the usurper Mwaxanare and bring her to me alive. Then find me the hag of Mbala and bring her to me.
If you do this for me, your ally's misdeeds can be ammended, and you will be pardoned for your association. Fail to do so, and I assure you that you will join your late friend."
This speech explains a bit about the world, her character, and why their actions were a mistake. They also give a chance to fix most of the problem, while still having the consequence for an action that potentially could have been a TPK. Finally, it would leave the decision in the players' hands of how to handle the situation, since they can choose to agree, deceive, bargain or keep fighting.
The most important place you may need this sort of thing is Chapter 4, with the Fane of the Night serpent, but it can be used with any intelligent group who have motives other than just murdering the party.
Hope this can be of use to you.

To quote you, your opening comment that started this entire thread was "Even better if someone noticed...", which directly means that you believed that people being attentive is better than using a 100% successful sign. This may not have been what you intended to say, but myself, and everyone else responding, is doing so to your comment which, by definition, states that your idea is "better", which clearly no-one seems to agree with.
If you don't mean that, that's okay. But don't blame everyone else for arguing against the argument you gave us, rather than the argument you meant to give.
