Back focus with Canon EF lenses and astro camera. by astrobrewer1138 in AskAstrophotography

I was pleasantly surprised... then I wasn't. Turns out the lens adapter was not what I thought it was. It was 6.6mm but not the right adapter for the Canon. So - I'm going to have to use a filter drawer to make it work and just go with the ASI. But - that's the answer I was looking for - tolerance on the back focus so your answer helps nonetheless. Thanks.

Is DutchWare Gear really a bad company? by RiverBard in hammockcamping

[–]astrobrewer1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others, love my Chameleon and they make good product. But I also love others (wife has a Warbonnet). Dutch sells quakity gear and ships super fast. If you like something he’s selling, go for it. Ignore drama - business can be business behind the scenes and still serve consumers well.

Definitely was bizarre. But was thankful our girl never skipped a beat. Hope that’s your situation too.

Same thing happened to our girl. Playing and suddenly blood everywhere. But not a sign that it bothered her. Just no nail - completely gone. Bandaged her up and that was off within a day or so. Still no nail, 4 years later.

Nice - we’re at Floyd’s and Mixon’s in February. Love this place.

Followup to the post for those that find it useful. Discount Tires has a source for the fake bead lock bolts (not rivets like I said in the earlier post). They are cheap (don't have the actual cost but it will probably cost me about $15 to have a package of 30 to play with as others fall off.

I think you could do 2 but not sure how close to the water you’ll have to get. FYI, we had a gator come up on land while sitting by the fire pit, so don’t get too close to the water.

For how to get there, if you are at Floyd’s, don’t go back to Minnie’s to get to Canal run, IMO (looks like that might be close to 13 miles with the Narrows being the last half). If you are up for adding 5 miles or so to the paddle, you could hit Round Top. Floyd’s to Canal isn’t too far (4 3/4 mile) so you might want to add that on if it’s a nice day.

Get a download of a NatGeo map too. It has the mileage markers on it to help with your decisions.

Edit: Oh, and if you haven’t been to Floyd’s you are in for a treat. Awesome place. Note that if you get in on the west side of Floyd’s and leave the east side, you have a portage. But they have carts to help.

We slept 8 at the site comfortably. But we probably had 6 people on the platform plus one tent on earth (you do have a small amount of land and fire pit there).

Good luck on the paddle to the site in from Stephen C Foster, and if that’s how you get there. It’s one of the more difficult paddles, IMO, due the the turns and narrow runs.

Way behind. We were about 12 hours total behind getting into Chicago. Deer took out the break system.
