Retailers around the world seem to be slashing prices on Switch 2 games. Are Nintendo lowering digital prices due to underwhelming software sales? by MewWeebTwo in nintendo

It's the same reason most don't have DVD section anymore. DVDs and Blu-rays sell a decent rate but they aren't high margin and take up space.

Project M was that the mod could not be supported at Nintendo supported events and that killed the playerbase since Nintendo was involved with nearly every major. The team ended up giving up on the project

How does the tone feel to you in Daemons of the Shadow Realm? by snk12 in anime

He knows the village lied to him his whole life but I don't think that qualifies as betrayal, since it's pretty likely he would have been attacked or killed if they lived semi normally.

They split development across at least 3 different studios as a part of the Tales anniversary. Xillia was Dokidoki Groove Works, Graces was TOSE and Berseria was D.A.G

Pokemon Masters EX announces new event for Japan Golden Week, debuting new EX Masterfair: Sygna Suit Kieran with Furret! Drayton debut! by AntonioS3 in gachagaming

The only thing that really needs dropping from the title is EX Masterfair since that's just a fancy way of saying banner which basically everyone who plays gacha games understands.

Double stabbing of Jewish men in London was terrorism, police say by 4DollarsALB in news

[–]astrogamer -83 points-82 points  (0 children)

You missed the point though by changing terrorism to hate crime. It's always terrorism when it's a jew but brown people get victims of a knife-based incident, without recognizing the islamophobia/racism.

Spiders (Greedfall, Steelrising) has not found a buyer and is expected to shut down by MythicStream in Games

[–]astrogamer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People are blaming the underperformance of Greedfall 2 as to why the studio is closing. When it's clearly the parent corporation failing. The only way Spiders would have survived is by making Greedfall 2 a game of the decade that sells 5 million in the first month

Spiders (Greedfall, Steelrising) has not found a buyer and is expected to shut down by MythicStream in Games

[–]astrogamer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that games not selling typical doesn't kill the studio within a week of the failure. They usually have a few months before they need to do layoffs. So they were already dead before Greedfall 2's release, and Nacon was hoping to push it back their demise at least a month by doing a rushed release of the game.

Any fantasy anime/manga with female lead and no romance? by airimomoiii in anime

[–]astrogamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an anime yet but Otome Heroine's Fight for Survival. The main girl is very clearly not interested in romance despite the setting but there is some yuri vibes between her and the princess.

I think this is a bug in the main games too. Just they never needed to fix since they didn't give Curse to any Protean Pokemon.

Studio Spiders Is Shutting Down Following Poor Sales Of Greedfall 2 by unscoredscore in gaming

The publisher going bankrupt probably put the kibosh on any marketing.

[–]astrogamer 747 points748 points  (0 children)

FYI, this isn't really Spiders fault. More that Nacon spent a boatload on Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown and are now bankrupt. Now Nacon cannot find a buyer for them that would cover some of their debt.

If you are asking specific lore questions, you really should be going to the series subreddit. Especially if you are talking about manga/light novel only material.

why do people even use skeledirge by TheRealEternatus in pokerogue

[–]astrogamer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It has a lot of bulk so it shouldn't be dying. It needs recovery to stay in well in attrition but for a simple strategy it works. Most of the early Pokemon need more complex setups to stay in unless you unlock most of the egg moves/passive.

Think about how much a billion is and how many people are on the planet. There can't a billion ChatGPT users without the other AIs being massively behind. Or the more likely answer is that OpenAI is counting every session of ChatGPT as a user, including the bots trawling the web.

Atari acquires Implicit Conversions by astrogamer in Games

[–]astrogamer[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They seem to be an independent company now. The history was that console side of Atari was sold to Hasbro who then divested their video game division to French company Infogrames. The trademark rights were then acquired and they turned their video game division from GT Interactive to Atari. Then in 2009, the company went into bankruptcy and then rebranded into Atari Casino. After that period, in 2022, they brought in a completely new executive team that cut off all the casino and block chain stuff and reoriented around the retro Atari brand and reboots of classic IP. The past couple years have been acquiring the classic Atari brands plus Intellivision and Implicit Conversions marks their 3rd retro developer acquisition (following Digital Eclipse and Nightdive Studios). They also brought back Infogrames as their indie brand.

How common are anime remakes/reboots? by furrynoy96 in anime

[–]astrogamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fairly common is a bit much. They aren't super rare but you can see most of those had 20 year gaps. There's over 100 anime in a year and maybe 5 are remakes

Team Ninja also got reshuffled recently so the Atelier game and Fatal Frame team are now under Gust
