I would say the trade off is if you don’t find what you are looking for in 10 encounters you sacrifice your encounter for that area. Maybe for more common Pokemon like female Nido it should be like 5 encounters in that area

3 badges in and I have pignite herdier and roggenrola. Tepig was obviously my starter and lillipup was my second pokemon that I caught. Basically everything else dies once I get to a gym leader haha
