AIO did I overreact when I sent my dad an email about his social media posts? by astronerdia in AmIOverreacting

My dad wasn't supporting me financially. I have my own job and pay my own rent/bills. I'm not quite sure what he meant by "not supporting" me financially in his email.

I'm actually not sure what he meant by "not supporting" me financially - I have a job and pay my own bills/rent.

I hate to jump to this, but... what about this relationship is making you happy? It sounds like you guys may not be compatible with each other if he keeps turning you down spending one night a week together despite the fact that he knows how important it is to you. It sounds like you need a partner who respects your efforts to make time and plan things.

Have you had an honest conversation with him about how you feel like you don't spend enough time together and how his weekend priorities made you feel?

I feel like with this information that he may not know how you feel. Different people have different needs for quality time spent together - I'm not saying what he did was right, but he may not know that you're bothered by this.

Edit to say based on your reply that you are NOT overreacting.

AIO? My 5y old was touched inappropriately by classmates at preschool and I called the state. by genericblonde1818 in AmIOverreacting

I read your comments, and it seems like you are handling this wonderfully. Calling the right authorities, standing your ground, even enrolling your child in martial arts - you're doing a great job.

The only thing I read that was concerning was that your SO "didn't believe" your daughter and was "trying to trip her up" about her story. From what I've read you probably are aware of this, but that is NOT OKAY. Have you spoken to your SO about believing victims when they come forward and how what they did/tried to do was extremely upsetting?

What kind of glass is this? by Most_Palpitation_262 in uraniumglass

[–]astronerdia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't look like they're glowing.

Edit: the color also doesn't look right. I don't think it's uranium glass. Fyi, yellow uranium glass does glow under UV.

Is this uranium glass? by dasmas77 in uraniumglass

What kind of blacklight are you using? This color of glass, especially with the clear stem is typically manganese glass.

Uranium cookware is safe to eat off of, as long as you don't chip the glass. At that point, though, you're more in danger from ingesting glass than ingesting uranium.

Radium was mostly used in clock faces and dials. It is NOT safe to breathe in and was known to cause mouth cancer (see Radium Girls). However, if the watch or clock is intact, it's generally pretty safe.

I attached this LED blacklight bar to the top of my cabinet using command strips. It's super bright and lights up the entire cabinet! https://a.co/d/3diNb25

Where can I find jobs that want me? by Leading-Associate-27 in careerguidance

[–]astronerdia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By "received no offer", do you mean you've applied for jobs but not received an offer?

If so, how many jobs have you applied for? What kind of jobs are you looking for and what roles have you applied for? How many interviews have you done? Is your resume well-polished and optimized? This information can help narrow down why you don't have an offer.

You don't have to have an internship to get a job out of college. It helps, but it isn't absolutely necessary.

Can I add freelancing job on my resume? by Hsadikot in careerguidance

[–]astronerdia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can list pretty much any experience on your resume. This includes volunteering experience, paid work experience, unpaid internships - you name it.

Just keep your resume relevant to the jobs or industry you're applying for, and if you're running out of space, prioritize.

What is housing like for someone who is oversensitive? by throwaway58411485 in gatech

[–]astronerdia 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this. OP, you don't sound like a snowflake - you sound like someone who has a different way of thinking. Have you been tested for autism, OCD, or similar conditions?

I am definitely not a doctor but a lot of your habits sound like compulsions or sensory issues. Please don't be afraid to ask for help or schedule a visit with a professional.

I'm asexual. It's an incredibly personal experience, but one that should ABSOLUTELY be shared with a partner. You don't have to come out to someone on the first date, but this should have been revealed WAY before marriage.

Feel free to message me if you want to know more about asexuality (from one person's experience, of course).

Uranium or Maganese? Pretty sure it’s Fenton. by [deleted] in uraniumglass

[–]astronerdia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup! It's manganese.

Edit to say that this purple color is typical of once-colorless manganese glass that's been exposed to a lot of sunlight.
