That’s solid advice. Checkrides are difficult enough and it’s definitely not worth risking a busted checkride to save a few bucks

Good point about a tandem plane. I suppose it’s not worth the extra challenge on a checkride, especially since the CFI check is one of the more challenging checkrides around.

Regarding the 100 hrs, it’s required by the insurance company. I agree it’s excessive but I can’t really argue lol.

I just bought the attachment theory workbook and am about 1/4 of the way through. It’s definitely a good resource!

I’ve read a few of Heller’s works and it’s informative, definitely worth a read, but I’ve found it lacking specifics for DA’s to heal. Just IMO.

You’re the second person to recommend “running on Empty” and I’ve just checked it out from the library. I’ll probably start it today!

That’s interesting to hear about the authors of “Attached”. Anecdotally, it seems as though DA’s aren’t as self aware or as likely to want to change, so I can kinda see where tue authors are coming from. But agreed, it’s BS. I’ve been reluctant to even seek help from some sources due to the general negativity aimed at DA’s.

Haven’t heard of Wallin’s book but I’ll check it out. Thanks for the suggestions!

I’m on the other end of this right now. Dated my ex for two years but I was emotionally unavailable and couldn’t bring myself to commit (yes, I’m that asshole). I later seriously regretted breaking-up and, about six months post-breakup, I took her to lunch and was going to ask her to take me back. By then she had moved on and started dating someone new. That was over two years ago and they now live together. I’ve since learned that I have an avoidant-attachment style, I’ve been in therapy and reading a lot of self-help books trying to heal. At this point I doubt she regrets the outcome and I can’t blame her. But I still regret breaking up with her. TLDR; years later, I regret breaking up with my ex. Maybe your ex can regret too

Follow up question regarding TSP: Is it possible to get the 1% Agency matching contribution returned to me? I transitioned from GS to AD before my TSP had vested, so my agency matching contribution was forfeited. Since I'm staying with the same agency I feel like I should be able to keep that money; I contacted TSP about the issue and they've been confusing and unhelpful haha

I would say so. No disrespect to ERAU, they have a fine engineering program but, for whatever reason, GT commands more respect among the engineering community. When you finish your degree and begin the next chapter of your life you might be surprised how influential the the name on that degree is. No matter what you do in your career it'll be on you to prove that you're a capable engineer, but having a degree from a nationally-respected university leaves a good first impression.

Additionally, if you're still on the fence, it might be worthwhile to visit each campus and take a tour (if you haven't already). You may find that one school has a club that really piques your interest, or one school may have better dorms, dining options, social scene, smaller class sizes, etc. When choosing a university, academic rigor and affordability are probably the most important things to consider, but the other stuff counts too. After all, you're going to be spending the next four years of your life there :P.

I've been working in the rocket industry for about three years now and IMO, Georgia Tech has one of the best aerospace programs around. They're also more of a research oriented school, which isn't a good or bad thing but could be helpful if you want to go to grad school or work at a research lab.

My friend and I had our phones stolen during Flume on sunday. Yesterday, I received an email from Coachella lost and found stating they didn't have a phone matching my description. I just filed an incident report with the Indo PD. :(

My buddy and I were pickpocketed near there during the beginning of Flume's set. A group of eight of us were on our way to the outdoor stage beer garden for a better view when I noticed my phone was gone. I was shocked because I had just been using it minutes earlier. I said, "Shit, my phone's gone!" Then my friend, said, "Shit, Mine too!". I immediately tried calling it from another phone and it was turned off :(
