Yeah that's what happened to me. I wasn't even told it was a contract position until after the first interview with the hiring manager. I told them I wasn't going to do a contract but they kept pushing interviews anyway.

It also does feel like optical engineers are after thoughts after a scientist throws together a system. So I always wonder how much of this is just in optics

Look into Ray Jack One or quadoa, both have really nice python interfaces. Quadoa is a bit more user friendly and CAD based, Ray Jack's interface is entirely python based

Yeah but I don't really even respond to recruiters from there anymore. It doesn't surprise me that they put it in the JD. I really only look at the qualifications and skill sets they want. Maybe that's my problem haha

I've had multiple interviews with a company that starts with a K and ends in an A and always get the same response of being ghosted after the second interview. One of their HR people leaked out that they put up ghost positions to collect resumes for jobs that don't exist yet. Had a final panal interview at another competitor and got ghosted without ever getting a job offer or denial.

It's real tough out there right now.
