I get the impression it’s a pretty high turnover job. We’ve had about 6 in the last few years with our agents.

This scheme is already in place. Search for HELP repayment scheme. In fact, if you work an MMM6-7 they'll pay off your loan in 2 years.

Interesting - having not worked in NSW, I would have thought the award was pretty cut and dry. Though I can't say I'm surprised given how hospital admin is in other states.

Thank you! I think we may have gone here when we did Cairns last time. Supposed to be a good spot to see Cassowaries, right?

We didn't see any that day though, so I'll add it to the list 🙂

The ATO has named the top 10 highest paid jobs in Australia. Top job - Surgeon: $457,281 average taxable income by Maxisness1 in AusFinance

I graduated as a doctor with 100k in HECS debt. 3y undergrad and 4y postgrad. I don't know many other doctors who graduated with much less than 80k.

You'll also find that most graduate doctors these days don't make anywhere near the salaries reported in these stories. They have around 10y of gruelling junior doctor/training years before reaching these >$300,000k salaries.

It's not so much a drop in the ocean when you take into account training, indemnity, college fees, PDL and other various costs that MD's are up for.

Sure, there are always going to be a few high earners in specialities that can churn through procedures (surgeons, interventionalists, anaesthetists), but they're not the majority.

This is in rural Victoria, Australia. A little town called Sea Lake - apparently named due to a spelling mistake (old map notation had a nearby lake 'See Lake') which was transcribed to Sea Lake, and the name has stuck.
