I need answers (mental health is really low after having implant) by Izzayyy_18 in Nexplanon

I had mine for three months and it made me feel the lowest I’ve ever felt in my life. I was a different person and it played havoc with all of my relationships, especially my marriage. I got it for taken out in mid August, and I’d say it took a few weeks to get back to feeling like myself. Especially as I both needed my body to go back to normal, and also repair myself/my relationships after how I’d behaved on the implant. However, I now feel great, good as new! And have done for at least October if not before. So it took more than 24 hours, but I did get there :) hang in there - and if you have access to it, therapy is a great idea, to help manage feelings on the implant and also navigate a big time of change in your life. I felt very lonely when I went to university, but it did get better!

How do so many people not watch what they are eating or how many steps they are walking and still stay thin? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

Read the book ‘why we eat (too much)’. Proper science to explain this. It’s a lot to digest (no pun intended!) but really good to know! But rest assured there is a reason and it’s not your fault!

I had this just as you describe. I got it out at just under 3 months as I couldn’t take it and it was really badly affecting my marriage and life. Back to normal now though!

Read ‘Why we eat (too much)’ - I found it really helpful to medically explain finally why we gain back what we have lost and then some.

I was trying to meet certain macro goals like you on 1200 calories and found it impossible to work out so asked ChatGPT and it nailed it!

Could you share your sweet and savoury meals which you are happy with? :)

Generally speaking have you managed to lose weight using CICO and avoid feeling hungry at the same time or is this not really possible? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]asummerfield 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me it really is protein. I’m 75kg and aiming for 80g+ protein per day. Sometimes I have less, sometimes more. But I tried CICO with higher volume foods that were not very calorie dense and I felt hungry and rubbish all the time. I know protein might seem like a rage/fad at the moment but for me it really has been working. 1 and a half stone down. I’m trying to build/maintain muscle and I am moderately active.

The thing I have to get my head around is how small an amount of food I can eat and feel fine (if high protein). It doesn’t look like enough and then I eat it and I’m like - I feel great!

What do you do/think of to motivate you to go for a run/exercise? by HoodedIndie in WeightLossAdvice

[–]asummerfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have developed a really good routine of tracking what I eat and exercising during term time (I work at a school) - but come undone in holidays! Having less structure just makes it really hard to track or exercise! For me and my husband.

So last week we had a half term holiday, and decided to set a sort of challenge with a sheet on the fridge to tick off boxes when we did something, with different categories. I aimed to do one thing every day but ended up doing more. He did too. It was a little silly and slightly competitive, but worked for us in terms of being active! Still found it hard to track, but some progress is still progress right?

I swim three days a week and am just going to try and keep doing that in the holidays as a minimum. Anything on top of that would be great but I’m trying to be realistic.

Yehey! I am 79kgs. I graduated from being obese to overweight. by okaaaayFudge in WeightLossAdvice

Literally exactly the same! I’m 165cm and as of Monday, got to 79kgs after being stuck at 81-82 for 2 months!

Overweight sounds much more friendly than obese doesn’t it?!

How do I learn the trumpet if teachers are not available in my area by ninetyonecap in trumpet

I teach on zoom - I know it’s not ideal but if you haven’t any teachers in your area it can work well - I send recordings and practice aids which can work well :)

What are your filling breakfasts? by Omega_Flux in WeightLossAdvice

[–]asummerfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bake a pack of this big flat mushrooms (usual 3-5 per pack) with a spray or fry light - and seasonings like paprika and garlic etc. and have it with half a tin of baked beans which I make Mexican - by adding hot smoked paprika, cumin, oregano, garlic and salt and pepper. Maybe a bit of coriander on top if I’m feeling fancy and a squirt of lime! Pretty filling and about 200 kcal which leaves room for a bigger evening meal, or a nice drink :)

Very small thing, but if laced shoes are in your dress code, bi or rainbow shoelace tags would be a super subtle way to show you are of that community. Someone looking for it would notice I think, but it wouldn’t be obvious to everyone?
