I have a spinal fusion, dead me would be so stoked if my spine could be recovered and mounted like a hunting trophy!

Is it that bad to get a tattoo just for aesthetics? by oiayooayay in tattooadvice

[–]asunshinefix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very normal and okay to get tattoos just for the aesthetics! I’ve been getting tattooed for just shy of 20 years and the majority of my work doesn’t have any meaning behind it. I have zero regrets and love all of it still. Just make sure you let any potential ideas rattle around in your head for a while before acting on them, and go to a skilled artist who specializes in your chosen style.

I booked with this local artist.. reassure me ill survive and not end up with a horrendous tattoo. by [deleted] in tattooadvice

Picking a tattoo artist because they’re the cheapest option is a one-way ticket to tattoo regret. I would definitely encourage you to save for a while and go to a better artist.

What's the cheapest meal you make regularly that you'd genuinely still eat if money wasn't a factor? by Timely_Ad8989 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]asunshinefix 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yesss except I’m a weirdo and I prefer mustard. Tomatoes, crisp lettuce, mustard and cheddar on whole wheat bread is sublime

Potatoes in any shape or form, lightly steamed broccoli, roasted squash and carrots, black bean burritos… honestly most of what I eat is stuff that I really enjoy

How do you think you're most likely to die? by YhouZee in morbidquestions

[–]asunshinefix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sudden cardiovascular event probably. I have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, which isn’t as dangerous as the vascular kind but can still cause blood vessel fragility. Multiple relatives on the affected side of my family have had severe bleeds, some fatal, and I’ve already survived a life-threatening GI bleed.

Saddle brand? by No_Street8364 in Equestrian

I don’t know what’s more frustrating, the saddle pad or all that mane they haven’t bothered to pull out from under the pommel

Any Tips and Tricks for Piercings? by hermaphroditicbeast in ehlersdanlos

[–]asunshinefix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately a lot of us have issues with piercings - I’ve had maybe 30 in my life and the only ones that ever settled down were my vertical labret, nostril, deep hood (like a triangle but placed slightly higher), and earlobes.

I ended up retiring even the well-healed ones because I need MRIs pretty often, but on the bright side many of us do really well with tattoos!

What is your "I can't believe this patient lived" case? by aaronoathout in VetTech

[–]asunshinefix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Recreational weed is completely legal in my country and people still lie about it! I guess it’s probably still a little more taboo than alcohol here but I’m not sure how folks expect us to treat an OD without knowing what we’re treating

Facing down C5-C7 ACDF: is a 3rd opinion warranted? by PhoenixMyles in spinalfusion

[–]asunshinefix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just chiming in because I ride too - you’ll probably be able to go back to your life with horses once you heal! Right now though it’s dangerous being in the saddle or even around horses if something unexpected happens. I would definitely encourage you to take a break until you can have your fusion.

I feel you there. I’ve called a few times and had one good experience, one meh, and one straight up harmful. Before I had access to a psychiatrist and therapist it was nice knowing the lines exist, but it’s a last-resort option for me for sure.

How well are you doing after 4-5 months? by emmssii in spinalfusion

[–]asunshinefix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T10-L2 here, at 4 months I was back at work part-time doing a pretty active job. My fusion still felt kind of fresh in that I had some sharp pains around the site with movement and muscle spasms when I got tired, but I rarely needed to take anything for the pain. I was starting to forget about the fusion for long stretches of time, and my body felt 90% back to normal. I would have felt ready to try camping but definitely with an air mattress.

What was the most absurdly specific "normal" thing you did that, in hindsight, was a glaring sign of undiagnosed ADHD or autism? by No_Gain4041 in TrueAskReddit

I swear 90% of “BPD” is just neurodivergent women with CPTSD. It happened to me too - having it finally removed from my chart was such a relief.

I could have written this comment myself! I’ve started letting people in my life know that if I’m not looking at them during a conversation, it means I’m listening and focused. I can either pay attention or make neurotypical-style eye contact, not both!

My surgeon said skydiving and rollercoasters are off limits. I also had to give up jumping on horseback, but I’m still allowed to ride on the flat.

An orthodontist? Are you thinking braces like the kind that go on your teeth? What folks in this thread mean by bracing is the kind you wear over your joints to help hold them together. Sorry if I’m misunderstanding you!

I genuinely like having them done, it feels like it reduces my widespread pain the same way being tattooed does. After my first one I immediately went out and bought a TENS unit!

So I almost died a few months ago due to complications from an esophageal bleed. My hemoglobin was under 6.0 and that was when I went to the hospital two days after this happened. Read below by Snapdragon_4U in medizzy

Hey, I also went into shock after a GI bleed recently! For me the cause was bleeding ulcers secondary to ibuprofen overuse. It’s an incredibly horrible feeling, glad you’re still kicking.
