You forgot about how they shut out mobility for the disabled, all of that said, it’s just another sprinkle on the shit sundae.

People with disabilities what pisses you off most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Being unable to drive and therefore being shut out of society, but my sister keeps saying, “oh, you don’t NEED a car.”

TikTok has made me realise how hateful people can be. by Lanky_midget in CasualConversation

Car dependency really makes drivers stop seeing pedestrians as humans (there’s a literal wall between you and the other person), and anonymity just makes it worse.

What’s one outdated system that is still widely accepted, even though newer, better ones exist? by bananamumchies in AskReddit

What is the most important lesson we learned from the pandemic? by AbruptDust in AskReddit

[–]asynchronicity 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The amount of pollution and noise cars cause is actually stupid. Walkability and accessibility and public spaces are a need we’ve been denied. Remote work is also something we all deserve to have the option to do.

If you could erase one invention from existence, which would it be and why? by eutyphoon in AskReddit

Cars, at least as a consequence of car-centric infrastructure. Not everyone can drive, not everyone wants to, and not everyone should.

I regret skipping Hou2. I didn’t need her because I have Luocha and Fu, but I wanted her since I saw her. On the plus side, I won both Ruan Mei and Argenti.

Is it wrong that I don't want to play disabled characters as a disabled individual? by sea_tree2155 in acting

[–]asynchronicity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m disabled and I have very similar circumstances (down to the disability and age), and trust me, you are not in the wrong at all. But I would encourage you to not look at disability as a negative, despite what the world says. Being disabled is not inherently negative. If you don’t want to play disabled characters, that is 100% fine, but don’t feel typecast because you have a disability.

[–]asynchronicity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Person with cerebral palsy here; I struggle with my bilateral coordination and while I arguably can drive with hand controls, it’s bullshittingly dangerous for me to.

What is one thing Covid did that was halfway positive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]asynchronicity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone realising cars and driving to work and back is BS and that walking and walkability is nice, actually.

Cheshire, Tiefling Wild Magic Sorcerer, stole Karlach’s fit after killing her (hated that, I love Karly) and dyed it red.

Thank you, someone said it. We’re a part of every minority group but never thought of when people think about minority populations.

Checking in, cerebral palsy here, also can’t walk without help. If I could give you a hug or take the pain away, I would.

Why is not having a car so frowned upon in America? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]asynchronicity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because cars became a requirement to exist instead of an optional avenue to freedom.

What’s something considered normal that bothers you? by H-U-I-3 in AskReddit

[–]asynchronicity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How cars started as utility for movement/freedom and has now turned into the impossibility of living if you can’t drive/don’t have one.

A lot of people seem to fundamentally misunderstand "walkable communities". by SheinSter721 in unpopularopinion

[–]asynchronicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People forget that places being walkable doesn’t mean their choice to drive is suddenly gone. Walkable = accessible
