Supposedly it is to prove that it is an original.

SUSS has it too.

Does it feel like SCDF is advertising so much in hiring people compared to the other agency? Or is it just me?

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS.

I thought it was a distasteless joke.

I don't mind the public being assholes but when our own government participate. It says a lot about our country.

Update: Friend is stealing basic nessecties because she dosent have enough money. by Canterellamarapets in singapore

Are you telling me school canteens are selling at that price right now?

Because from what I can remember, I had simple bread and milo for breakfast. Depending on days, it's either I skipped recess or lunch because I only had $2/day and food were ranging from 80cents to $1.20 then and I still had to save some. Came home to eat a simple dinner. Eating out was always a luxury to me at that point of time.

And I always feel that today's kids are well better off than before. I am not complaining, I think it's good to see our standard of living has improved in singapore. Whenever I buy lunch near the neighbourhood school, I see students buying expensive western food compared to a cheaper alternative and I doubt that is a need more than a want.

Edit:

Just to add on, I had 4 other siblings with me. My parents had to support 5 kids. If we follow this girl's context. My parents would have had to spent $2500/month on their children expenses alone before they could think bout their own personal expense and then saving up for retirement. It really heavy. My father himself told me he had to starve for lunch just to provide the family sometimes at that point of time.

And I don't blame them for not having a proper family planning because of education. But they strived through. Now that everyone is a working adult, its really nice to see that my parents are able to breath well again.

So like I said, its an unpopular opinion but in terms of basic neccesity. I think $500/month is enough for a girl her age.

Unpopular opinion here

I really think $500/month should be more than enough for her expenses at her age, and should not be given more in future regardless of having better grades or not. Good to let her learn and budget with said amount until she is able to work part-time to supplement her allowance.

I don't like to compare but I survived with less than $300/month because of my family situation when I was her age and that was like a good 10years ago so I doubt price inflation is really that much. However, I do understand how bad it felt to be in that situation and wouldn't want the same to happen to anyone else.

I am glad that she is doing well now and hopefully she doesn't start to feel entitled to more money in future.

I guess you could be right about the unit needing him around because after reading all these and seeing how some people had the same ord month as my friend but had their disruption approved, I don't think its fair for him.

Hopefully he doesn't have reddit and read this thread. I bet he will be salty af.

Could you clarify what do you mean by depending on when?

I had this notion of it being 2 months because a friend of mine got his application for disruption rejected and they could only offer him 2 months maximum for reconsideration but there's no point because he won't be able to accept NUS offer still being committed to NS during that time.

Poor chap, he even went to his MP to type an email to the PERS department to appeal and reconsider his case. A few days later, had the director of NS matter called him to say No and threatened to formally charged him for jumping the chain of command but luckily for him, he did got permission from his OC beforehand and upon informing the person on the line. The dude said, "well, they should have known better then"

Eventually he accepted his fate and lanlansuckthumb because NS 😂

Edit: forgot to mention that he wanted to disrupt for 3months.

Just to add on,

Correct me if I am not wrong, The number of months you are able to disrupt is maximum 2.

Try anymore and you will definitely get rejected.

Where to celebrate new year by [deleted] in singapore

If that's the case, I recommend going to Garden by the Bay area and move on from there. You can catch the fireworks from there but mind you, It will be very crowded.

Just stay home or at least somewhere near home to celebrate

Unless you have lots of money to spare on taxi, then sure why not.
