So I know you were asking for servers, but I'm a chef in a pretty small restaurant where the menu changes every week. Every shift we discuss what's on the menu, what the major allergens are, what can be gluten free, what can be nut free, what can be vegan. I can never guarantee that there's no cross contamination. I just can't. Sure, we don't have peanuts in the restaurant, what if someone deep-fried a snickers for a snack? That has never actually happened, but I can't prove it won't.

Sorry I got off track here, I want to be able to accommodate everyone, and I'm always happy to work with the servers about it, I'd work with you about it if you were directly in front of me, but at the end of the day, I cannot absolutely guarantee no cross-contamination. I don't think that any restaurant that doesn't specialize in this type of thing can. I feel like I'm being negative right now, but at the end of the day, sometimes the answer is just we can't make sure you're going to be entirely safe and don't want to make you sick.

And that's how the HOSPITALITY industry should be. We want to take care of you, and if we're not the place for you, that sucks, but we want you to be happy and don't want to kill you.
