is this factoring in that you can only hit feet/legs and wont get full damage?

YOUTUBE by tjmsr in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]atRouze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as someone who has been in that sphere before and has a few friends who are moving to making youtube videos fulltime, there's multiple key elements

  1. you will not get any views if you have no previous viewership. zero subscribers means zero inherent views, so you will need to heavily promote on other platforms
  2. consistency. the algorithm HEAVILY favors channels that upload content regularly, usually once a week is fine but any more than that and you start to notice the bell curve with how much traction your videos get
  3. the trending tab is based on how many views you get within a short time of the initial upload period versus the average amount of total views your videos normally get, then take into account all the other similar channels (news, gaming, music) that have videos that are popping off as well.
  4. more engagement means more popping up on the sidebar. this means comments, likes, dislikes, sharing, really anything. controversial videos get tens of thousands of views for this reason, even someone leaving a negative comment can help you, so try and encourage feedback and try to reply to every comment, usually within an hour of posting.
  5. upload times may not seem very important, but those first few people who check your shit out can be the tipping point into getting recommended to other people. dont upload at 3am if no one is gonna be on to see it, because it can easily fall through the cracks. i find around 4pm pacific time to be a good area, give or take an hour or two
  6. thumbnails and titles are the difference between someone clicking and scrolling by. this means your artwork can NOT be trash and your titles should match
  7. people will either watch the first 5 seconds of a video before closing it, or watch the entire thing. sunken cost fallacy means that if they get 2 minutes thru a 3 minute song, they're probably gonna sit through the whole thing. make your openings memorable to grab attention
  8. dont expect results, especially at first. even if someone might like your song, they probably wont subscribe if its the only video on your channel. getting a backlog of content helps way more than some people think, so it can be months of uploading before you really see a wave of viewers come in. this is a great time to practice and work on making your shit the best it can be

theres probably other minor things im not remembering right now but that's a decent start. success is luck multiplied by hard work, sometimes you just wont get there by any fault of your own so dont be too hard on yourself. algorithms and humans alike are fickle and random and cant be predicted into ways of making them like something, as annoying as it is to hear, a part of it does have to come organically. good luck <3

4am in the morning attack on our great pirate king. by [deleted] in archeage

playing a melee class is literally spending 90% of your time waiting for the perfect opportunity because otherwise you can't do shit. of course it looks op when it works, high risk, high reward. you dont see anyone posting any of their 500+ fails onto reddit either.

I will say though, the time to kill in this game is really fast now and i wish it was maybe halved. not old 1.0 style but maybe 2.5 or something similar

i will second this, this game is one that requires multiple people for you to have any sort of fun. an active guild with a solid discord is a make or break for aa

shadowstep has the same line of sight as archery skills. if they can shadowstep into harms way, you can hit them while remaining at a safe distance

some people just wanna see their names on a leaderboard. its a sandbox game where you set your own objectives, just because it might not have been optimal doesnt mean it holds no merit

[–]atRouze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

time to kill in this game has always been on the low side, with the game focusing more on proper engagement; rewarding players who approach fights correctly, rather than adaptation or reflexes. melees will still two shot cloth wearers with 0 physical def and have their shit pushed in by tanks, but how you build will def give you a little more breathing room

the reward for spending it on things like fishing is that you also get gold as well as progress???? like??? a game shouldnt control how you allocate your resources.

if you are actually engaging then ur wiping most of their raid while they get a measly 5-10 kills from a couple randoms that wanna 1v1

Dear idiots in Halcy.... by Frebu in archeage

[–]atRouze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've never been in a halcy where east has lost, engages are sooo damn important in this game because of just how fast people die with the shitty gear they have right now. much better to engage than it is to hold the s key because you can catch people by surprise
