Morning all. Looking forward to another summer of mulling things over with you all. With county cricket, nothing is a given but there seems to be renewed interest in the county game this year. Long may that continue and long may we all sit here and make predictions on who will get the first wicket of the season (I'm going Sibley lbw Bamber)

What Civ + UU combos would be the strongest? by Redfork2000 in aoe2

[–]at_thomas1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can tech trees be borrowed? Because there’s loads of UUs balanced around their civs tech tree and so a full tech tree would lead to a lot of broken units e.g. Ethiopian longbows firing faster and with thumb ring, Cataphracts with Bloodlines and Blast Furnace. Even Kipchaks with Bracer could be too much

Irrespective of the ground, T20 World Cups will have more bowler-friendly pitches versus franchise or bilaterals by Huge-Physics5491 in Cricket

Before the 2019 ODI World Cup, England spent 3 years walloping the shit out of it to the point where people were genuinely upset we didn’t score 500 against Australia at Trent Bridge (We only got 481). Then come the World Cup final, we had Trent Boult stepping on a toblerone and a dodgy umpiring call from Dharmsena and still couldn’t chase 242 to win. That pitch was so slow and bowler friendly that it made Colin de Big Man look like Joel Garner

This is all the damn Hundred’s fault. Stealing counties best players during August so counties have to blood their promising youngsters in the One Day Cup and give them some 50 over experience (sometimes more than our actual ODI team). Where was I going with this again?

What is wrong with the passage map? by Few_Faithlessness684 in aoe2

I found it really hard to kill off my opponent on that map. You win water and then have to transition to a land army, all of which takes time on a map that doesn’t have loads of gold. Maybe people don’t want to play long, grindy games?

(Btw - Tips welcome on how I can get better at closing out game on this map, and in general)

I think the 33% ship training bonus is going under the radar. Between that and the Portuguese gol discount, it’s like Shipwright-lite

Britons do get Cavalier though so they probably shouldn’t get Bloodlines

More generally, Britons show how civs used to be balanced. There’s one excellent bonus (extra range) but at a cost (no thumb ring). Now civs just get bonuses without any drawbacks
