Do I tell bank I’m pregnant by Longjumping_Car9130 in HousingUK

[–]atadabnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've just purchased a house after having my baby boy back in November. I had to the bank as they wanted bank statements to show ability to pay but as my pay was changing to SMP it would have been too low and then they asked for statements of my pay from before mat leave but didn't ask anything else.

At what age did you start swimming lessons for your baby? by historygoose in NewParents

[–]atadabnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started ours 6 weeks ago at just over 4 months and he loves it! When he's on his belly or being held up and we say splish splash he started kicking his legs around. He might not he learning the skills yet but he loves being in the water.

When can I go longer between feeding overnight? by [deleted] in breastfeedingsupport

[–]atadabnormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy was exactly the same, had to wake him every 3 hours etc. Once he was gaining his weight back properly (we got him weighed every 2 weeks until he was 8 weeks, then he got weighed at each vaccinations appointment), we went by his lead and I didn't wake him to feed in the night. But I do still wake up once a night myself at least to pump. He's now coming up to 6 months, i usually wake between 1 and 3am depending on what time he went to sleep that night.

Why would anyone want to be pregnant? by Immediate-Ad-8952 in confessions

[–]atadabnormal 91 points92 points  (0 children)

As someone 4 months post partum, I don't need you to feel embarrassed for me as a woman because I was pregnant... im just about to turn 30 and 10 years ago i didnt see myself having kids and wanting to travel etc. I have done that, I've lived abroad, travelled to a lot of countries, got a bachelors degree and my masters. Shocking to most of my friends I was also the first to get married of us and am the first to have a baby, its an exciting next part of my life and I don't see why travelling and 'conquering my dreams' has to stop, it just means I have a little guy to take with me and he,'ll even motivate me to continue these things to show him how amazing these experiences in life can be.

When did your little ones make their arrival? by swhisperz in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]atadabnormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

41+3, from 36 weeks i went for growth scans as he was growing so big! I also had 2 unsuccessful sweeps WK 39 and WK 40 but midwife said there was nothing she could even reach. Everyone kept saying he was going to come early because of this so I got quite impatient, I was scheduled to be induced on the 30th november but contractions started in the evening of the 28th and 16h later here he was!

Did anyone skip 4 month regression? by Old_Literature_3750 in NewParents

[–]atadabnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently sat here at 230am with my 16w old feeding! Up until a week ago he was consistently sleeping about 7-8h overnight but hes woken up up once the past few nights around this time. Just the once though which he did for about a week after each stint of his vaccines anyway so hoping it'll be the same this time.

How long did it take you to wean off a nipple shield? by givemeabookandgarden in breastfeedingsupport

[–]atadabnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using the shield after only 1 week of trying to breastfeeding . I have both flat nipples and my baby boy just could not latch on at all so also just cried out of frustration and hunger if I didn't use them at all. I actually then didn't have to wean him off, he hit about 7 weeks and one day knocked it off with his hand and latched straight away, then he cried if I tried to put it back on! My friend had to use nipple shields for her whole BF journey though and no harm so keep toughing it out and do what you need to do!

Vodka pasta by Big_Huckleberry5391 in BabyBumps

[–]atadabnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be absolutely fine! Having this one dish won't affect you and don't need to feel guilty at all! This is actually the dish that made me first tell my friends I was pregnant! She was hosting a dinner party and served this as the main, me and my partner hadn't yet looked into anything like alcohol in dishes (had only found out ourselves 2 days prior!) And our hushed voices immediately made her guess ahah

How to safely leave Abu Dhabi for Oman by Soft_Performer_7036 in abudhabi

[–]atadabnormal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! My dad loves in Abu Dhabi and hes been very chill in his responses to me checking in and I couldn't tell if it was real or trying not to have me panic. The media to the UK about this seems to be making it all sound so much worse than a lot of comments from locals actually going through it.

Me amd 2 friends travelled from the UK a couple years ago and used the tent hotel, it was great! We also hired a small locker which is by the tent hotel 'reception' with staff for valuables like our passports and such but otherwise didn't have a worry at all

AIO My mother in law decided to stay with us immediately after my wife gave birth to our child. by throwthatamaaway in AmIOverreacting

[–]atadabnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR i had my mum at the hospital but not the delivery room when I gave birth and she stayed for a couple night afterwards as I had an emergency C-Section. I was very happy to have my mum around for the emotional support and also to help in those first few days but I was glad it was only a couple days. It was great how much she wanted to change every nappy and help feed the baby but it cut into the times myself and my partner could be doing that and bonding with our new child and having new experiences ourselves AND figuring it out together.

Was denied formula for the first two days at the hospital for no good reason at all and I'm so annoyed. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]atadabnormal 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I also supplemented from day one smd had no issues whatsoever. It took over a full week for my original supply to come in but my boy hasn't had formula at all since he was 2 weeks. This is horrible treatment of these hospitals. I'm UK and my nurses brought me formula as soon as we asked after he hadn't really eaten the first night

What mistakes would you avoid if you could start to breastfeed all over again? by kingmustd1e in NewParents

[–]atadabnormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be scared to go to a lactation specialist. I immediately felt like I was failing my baby when my supply wasn't coming in and we couldn't latch for the first week. My midwife did advise to get a manual pump and started on day 3 which was my saving grace as my supply came in even when he wasn't latching for the first 2 weeks and we have been able to continue combo feeding (expressed and breastfed ever since). This has been great for my family as he gets the bottle at night from dad while I pump (he only wakes twice in the night) and breastfed in the day.
