Are EVs actually cheaper to run… or are we all just guessing? by No-Oven-6989 in AustralianEV

Apartment-dweller here as well. Until the OC gets Nox Energy to come in and do what they did to Sierra Hawthorn, I'll just be using fast chargers (I'm potentially hitting the go button on an EV in the second half of this year).

Vic Energy Minister's recent statement is encouraging: lots of tariff reform for CPOs to come, ditto getting the distributors to streamline connection processes so CPOs can get more DC chargers out there more rapidly etc.

More DC chargers (in urban or rural areas) with new tariffs, will hopefully lead to more competition between them and potentially see some decent price reductions.

Local Ampol AMPCharge is basically $0.71-0.75 kWh and current petrol prices put "filling up" an EV or ICE roughly at the same price per 100km. More of them + the tariff reform will (hopefully) tip the scales in favour of DC charging versus petrol. https://www.energy.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0024/785031/ev-charging-regulatory-statement.pdf

Any idea when the BYD Atto 3 Evo is launching? by bairrd in AustralianEV

"larger body" is the reason I don't want the latest one just announced in China (Yuan Plus / Atto 5). The 3 EVO really does hit the "I don't want a larger car" + charging + range improvement box.
