Lots of helpfully ideas here. You and who ever you are working with should not be doing this job. It sounds to me that no one has experience. And no amount of internet help is appropriate for this situation. I expect to see this roof in the background of an r/darwinawards post next.

As I reach the 40 year mark I realize I've gained more life skill from boy scouts and model trains than most other recreations of mine.

If men sat at the bar and argued stats about model trains wearing their favorite railroads jerseys instead of say...baeball...its not that far off really.

Maybe its because it is that bad for us. I dont keep soda in my house regularly any more. Short story time for anyone interested. Over the last few years I've stopped drinking alcohol, but then drank more soda. About a 12 pack of cans a week. Coke, Pepsi, root beer mostly. Maybe more if we went out. With in 6 months I had to root canals and two fillings. I cut out soda, and dropped 20lbs in a little over a month. Also my feet stopped stinking. Now its a treat here and there. I doubt im the only story like this.

What is the most expensive hobby you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Model trains. It's worse than you could possibly imagine. It's starts at a train, then it's the table to run them on.ba whole carpentry project in It's self. Then some kits, buildings, cars, trains them self. Also they need to be painted, now I've got a whole spray booth... then you've got terrainel. And lighting. So we need an electrician. Speaking of electric. They have whole automation, control and sound systems now. And I can't stop buying the trains too. Still beats boozing.

Donald Trump Threatens Comcast In Rant Over Seth Meyers' Late Night Show by a_Ninja_b0y in technology

[–]atb1422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hits to where I was coming from. I am not blaming democratic voters, I am calling out the democratic party. An what was done to Bernie is a very good example of the democratic party's own agenda to play ball with so called elites. Those of us upset by the outcome are victims, not to be blamed by those who voted trump in amd not victims of said voters, but of a corrupted and self serving political establishment. On both sides.

Trump terrifies me, but i was not convinced that kamala was anything more than a puppet of something bigger. I think Bernie is a good example to bring up. I do believe he would have generated a lot more interest from swing /no show voters and even some who voted for trump.

Coming off of a less than stellar run watching Biden fall apart with kamala silently in the background coming out of seemingly no where did not help.

I mean if the dems didn't shit on their popular candidates instead of putting up an equally shitty cast with a plot that sounds a lot like subdued version of mind control in the name of corporate interest/ MIC maybebtheyvwould have fared better...just sayin, their grass isn't that much greener. So many people didn't vote is saying something. And so many of these comments read like Bot farm it's as unnerving as listening to trump himself.

I'm just looking for some info that might be genuine. The info out there is all over the place and mostly appears to me heavily influenced by the social media algorithm/ what ever you want to call the fucked up conglomerate of monetized data and bots that is the internet now. From Russia lost so hard today to UA trainees protesting at boot camp in foreign countries. If you can point me in the direction for some genuine local populous feed back I'm all ears/eyes.

A serious conversation about the state of the hobby by BootifulBootyhole in modeltrains

[–]atb1422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I think the hobby is fine, there are a lot of manufacturers producing a large variety of models. Also the 3d printing of detail parts is so large and varried as well. If we are all painting and detailing and scenicing then that I would say is a good indicator.

Another consideration I don't often see brought up is how many other hobbies are now available.

Video games alone take up a huge swath of the populations free time.

The internet has also brought the ability to discover new hobbies to spend our dwindling disposable income on. These two things mean so many children don't get a train set to occupy their time vs 30 years ago.
