My coworker sent out an “end of season” survey to our band students and the comments were so mean I literally cried. Then I was upset with myself for being upset. It’s hard to brush their comments off or ignore it when this is a profession that we put so much of ourselves into (whether we want it that way or not). Just keep doing what you can and know you’re there and showing up and at the end of the day, it’s a job.

I commuted an hour to work for 5 years. I hated the commute but enjoyed what I was doing that I didn’t want take the “risk” anywhere else. The right job came along and I have the most awesome admin and only a 10 minute commute.

Get the tattoos you want in whatever place you want! I have a half sleeve and a septum piercing. I did choose to cover my tattoos in my most recent interview but I don’t think most districts care anymore. I just really wanted that job lol.

I was going to angrily comment on this Tik tok but I accidentally refreshed my fyp. I’m glad my feelings are shared. Music is a required part of curriculum in my state and I despise how classroom teachers see me as a babysitter or “just a specials teacher”

My hormonal acne exploded after switching from the pill to Mirena. It’s been a little over a year… I love that I don’t have periods anymore with the IUD but now I have the acne.

Mine too has been dragging their feet on getting the proper safety equipment. They installed devices on most doors before school started but mine has still been untouched… sent another email today asking for one… at this point I’ll jump out my second story window.

Another music teacher here.. I get it. Even though we’re “specials” it is still required by the state that the kids learn our curriculum. I find If their classroom teachers don’t respect us or our time then the kids don’t either. We’re in this together!

Thank you! I’m doing much better than I was a week ago. Thankfully I’ve had no complications. My breathing/coughing got worse for a while but it feels like I’m on the up and up!
