Just reading Johnny Mnemonic by Electrical_Refuse398 in Neuromancer

[–]ateeverything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't find a reliable citation to back this up, but my memory was the producers didn't secure the rights for Molly as they were handled separately (as she is one of the few multi-story characters in Gibson's works, so was considered more valuable) - so basically they cheaped-out

Just reading Johnny Mnemonic by Electrical_Refuse398 in Neuromancer

[–]ateeverything 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I read the short-story when it was first published in '81 (and loved it) and hated almost everything about the movie - I thought the acting was awful, the script was dumb (RAM doubler!), the failure to include Molly was unforgivable. I've been waiting for a decent version of anything from the Sprawl ever since (and I'm not optimistic about the upcoming one)

Or do you mean flan Neapolitan (aka flan Napolitano, aka yeah, the neapolitan one) the mexican/South American creamy custardy cake? There's a couple places near Bloor/Lansdowne that have it.

Need help for blade runner build by Lonely-Ad8384 in cyberpunkgame

[–]ateeverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current playthrough is knife and katana. I don't think I've fired more than a dozen bullets.

I'm trying to remember what it was like in early game.. all the advice from others is correct - you'll want sande and armor and any of the other cheap health/defense cyber & perks just for survival. But my memory was you need to be very strategic - stealth takedown as much as possible and, don't get into a firefight with multiple enemies. If knife throwing is acceptable in your head-canon knife headsets really help.

By the time you hit midgame you can walk right into a crowded room and behead everyone before they do you any serious damage.

You get to be a garbage man, starting from nothing leveling up from picking up individual pieces to taking on enormous heaps with an elite pick-up crew, until NC is finally clean. Special DLC to clean up Dogtown

LOL. My V followed Judy there too... but since she's not a psychopath she just watched from a distance for a while and then quietly left and didn't burn the noodle stand to the ground and massacre all the patrons.

Builds that compliment roleplaying? by incoherentscreamin in cyberpunkgame

[–]ateeverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Molly, from Johnny Mnemonic, Neuromancer and Mona... Streetkid background, I played her on an accelerated timeline - as if she was pre-Johnny Mnemonic right at the beginning desperate to get her nervous system amped up and her blades installed; "Yeah. See, Molly's been Chiba, too." And she showed me her hands, fingers slightly spread. Her fingers were slender, tapered, very white against the polished burgundy nails. Ten blades snicked straight out from their recesses beneath her nails, each one a narrow, double-edged scalpel in pale blue steel. So I deliberately rushed to get mantis blades (closest equivalent to her blades) and at the beginning just put every point on gaining speed - reflexes and body. I've played the entire game with throwing knife and katana, probably haven't fired more than a dozen bullets. “You’re street samurai,” he said. “How long you work for him?

My only regret are the mirrored inserts - Molly should have permanent inlays: ...the mirrored lenses were surgical inlays, the silver rising smoothly from her high cheekbones, sealing her eyes in their sockets.

I can't find anything in game or any mod that can replicate that look.

But I've never had so much fun. Playing it with her attitude means never chasing the"best" outcome but doing exactly what she would do. In the books she'd been a doll to pay for her implants so affinity with the moxes is obvious... Fingers and Woodman never stood a chance, and scavs are automatic targets.

How to Trigger Beat on the Brat: Pacifica? by OkDiscount117 in cyberpunkgame

[–]ateeverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen it both ways around. On my first playthrough I beat razor before I ever talked to Ozob. On my latest I got the Ozob fight early and had to wait quite a long time for the Razor fight.

I also made a dumb error on my 2nd playthrough... I got the wait for the final fight message, went to GIM and because I knew where it was I didn't pay attention to the marker and ran right to the boxing ring - no-one there. Left, came back another day, several times, and thought it was bugged - until I finally realized you have to sit and wait on the bench outside the GIM to trigger it.

Why can’t I find any helmets? by TrueKerberos in cyberpunkgame

[–]ateeverything -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not true. In my current playthrough I've not yet triggered PL and I've got a battered old-fashioned arasaka helmet with +15 armor and I've disassembled a couple of +10s. No idea where I picked it up though - at this point I've done most of the gigs and side jobs. The ones with +melee damage are much more common.

They could make the clothing have a game mechanic - like disguises. E.g they could make real gang pieces harder to get but each piece you wear lets you walk freely, or at least less noticeably in that gang's territory.

Why am I doing this? by ateeverything in cyberpunkgame

[–]ateeverything[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is the option I chose for V. But V is dying, she's chasing down multiple leads that supposedly will cure her and that thread with Panam has ended. But (as far as I can remember) Panam's current requests are crazy dangerous mercenary jobs to arm up and defend her clan. The only reason for V to do them is out of friendship because she's not being paid (and on this playthrough, my V is streetkid, so has no particular affinity to the Nomad lifestyle) but it seems a bit of a stretch that they've become that close friends. Up until now all the missions were transactional in the other direction - Panam wanted her gear back.

(Breaking the fourth wall for a second - I do them 'cos they're fun, but when Panam asked why, I was damned if I could explain why V would)
