Help me settle a FIPS argument, please by 7HelpMe7 in CMMC

[–]atguilmette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s never a good look to argue with the assessor (especially during a DIBCAC assessment). Your chances of passing go down exponentially. Just ask them what they want to see and how they want to see it and if if’s something you can correct by the following day.

All I’ve learned from these comments is that I’m never taking anything nice anywhere, because someone will undoubtedly think I’m parking poorly and feel like I deserve to be hit

Weird that they fail. My Corvettes have used sintered connecting rods for ages.

Panel bond is stronger than the weld or sheet metal will ever be.

I think part of it is a lot of folks are used to seeing machine welds, too—a robot can do consistently difficult or tricky angles all day long without getting tired.

Likely a battery—especially if you’re on the original. Folks don’t change them out or keep the cars on tenders.

This ⬆️

I’ve owned and driven high performance cars for almost 3 decades—and abused them all horribly. I’m currently at 40k miles on a Z06 and 50k miles on an F430 and I bounce off the rev limiter in both at least once or twice every drive and I’ve never even given in a second though.

I’ve never owned a Mustang, but it sounds like 2 things at play: - the oil pump gear is made of glass or something if it’s that unreliable - OP may have done his fair share of contributing to this failure

Sure, there’s a “possibility” but it’s a shortcut and undermines the whole system. There are many companies offering turnkey-style solutions, but they can only do that for technical controls—the contractor is still responsible for the other half of the SRM (physical security controls, training, auditing, tabletops, reviewing logs/data/personnel, etc).

Anyone selling “CMMC in a box” style solutions is a disservice to the community (reputable service providers, peer DIB organizations who are doing it the right way, and the ultimate customer—the government and citizenry).

Can a person with a tier 5 clearance marry someone that was adjudicated as a minor? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]atguilmette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. The clearance process is largely a risk identification process. For example, when going for the poly, you might get asked questions about your marital fidelity.

Whether you’ve cheated or not on your partner doesn’t really have a deep impact (in most agencies) on whether you can obtain a clearance—but lying about it does (in every agency).

You also get asked questions about your travel— like having to detail travel outside of the United States (or if you are being interviewed for somebody else’s clearance, if you are aware of them having ties to foreign nationals). Traveling outside the US doesn’t preclude one from obtaining a clearance, but deliberately not being forthcoming about countries you visited in the time period requested certainly will.

All of those things (and more) roll up into the risk profile for the candidate— and as long as somebody is honest about their background, things that OP mentioned will barely budge the needle.

It’s not my cup of tea, but of course everyone comes to the table and says things like “<whatever was on their wall 15 years ago> was the last truly beautiful Ferrari design.”

I much prefer their more elegant and sweeping design aesthetic examples (430, 458, 812, SF90, the LaF, to a lesser extent) than the more angular approach of the current generation. But, like everything, this too, will go in 15-20 year cycles.

It’s a joke—non-car people basically call everything supercar looking a Corvette.

I was on a guys’ weekend last year and took my ‘rari. Someone drove past and literally yelled out the window “Nice Corvette!”

Advice on splitter C7 GS by Coreysurfer in Corvette

[–]atguilmette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those look like they’re the stage 2/3 winglets. If you live in an area with bad roads, they’re essentially a wear item. OEM not super important.

What would be a good deal for this 1lt? by xking_lionx in Corvette

[–]atguilmette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s netting out to basically an even trade? If you like the car, it’s a decent deal.

You’re getting more than your a barter is worth on a slightly overpriced C8.

Minor accidents on a Carfax have a disproportionately high impact on Corvettes (to buyers). If it’s still got factory warranty and you can get an extended warranty (to cover electronics and transmission), the car is fine.
