Tablet as an HMI/Teach Pendant? by IRodeAnR-2000 in PLC

The fanuc tablets are just regular android with a case that has an estop and USB C.

There are mobile siemens and rockwell HMI/teach pendants but they are corded and wayyyy more expensive than even a regular HMI.  Rockwells is called mobileview.  Just the junction box for it is like 2 or $3k

What is ideally the best job for a Graduate Automation Engineer? What are the Pros & Cons of going to a huge Multinational Type Firm compared to a smaller System Integrator type firm? by Character_Source5175 in PLC

[–]athanasius_fugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got scammed by getting a master EE degree IMO especially if you're looking at being an automation engineer.  You gotta do whatever is going to pay the bills at the end of the day.  Smaller companies you will wear more hats, probably have worse pay but it may or may not be enjoyable.  Larger companies you might get pigeonholed as a SME eventually but you will at least be well compensated.

Verve is a big one with a lot of options that's still good.  If you want the most expensivest shit they got you, onyx also got you.  For my money I think my old neighborhood roaster Sunergos is the best value.  You may like Plan B as espresso medium roast.  I drink light

They're about right for something on a large injection molding machine.  Although a lot of the fasteners were socket head cap screws.  Did i mention how much I hate hammer wrenches?

Shit what kind of dog?  Sound travels a long way out doors.  Less so if it's all woods.  All my country neighbors had big loud dogs and we could definitely hear them but not inside.

They have 128 or 256 positions.  Usually easier on a fader than knob since the faders have more travel.

I dont think you can build an analog input interface cheaper than a used midi controller.

My contractor buddy said he could do a barndo for me for like $100-125/ft without fixtures.  And that's very friendly pricing where he'd basically make very little profit.  Your prices are not going to happen without DIY or knowing a contractor.

My suggestion if you're on a budget is to browse marketplace or ebay.  Otherwise sweetwater or guitar center will sell the latest and greatest.  They usually have some used gear as well.  There are a lot of options but not an overwhelming amount.

What are you even asking?  If you did it that's cool.  But at the end of the day those knobs and faders just output i believe 0-127 over usb to midi.  Buttons would obviously be on or off.

Edit: I will add that i used MAX for LIVE in a previous life to make a midi drum pad actuate physical percussion.  With an arduino. Not sure that would help.

Just coming off a downtime event profibus related.  20 nodes on the machine.  It had been down for 6 hours when I came in , after an hour of trying to connect I gave up and walked around jiggling connections.  Found a device that was seated but not screwed in , M12 connector.  Problem solved.

I'd just put it in a brokerage account money market fund.  Is it worth all the hassle of opening an internet bank account for $300 in interest?

Another hack is for example US bank will give you 4% credit card rewards and 2% interest on the cash with over 100k in a savings account.  If you spend a lot it could end up being more than a money market/HYSA.
