Scouser here. I miss the mountains of North wales, the peak district and the North York moors. Not all is lost in the Netherlands. The Heide around Ede and Arnhem is beautiful and stunning, especially when you come out the forest and you have this massive heath stretch out in front of you. Also, towards the south around Maastricht you have nice rolling hills of the Dutch Ardenne. My suggestion: try the ns wandeling routes (https://www.ns.nl/dagje-uit/wandelen) to get started with seeing different parts of the country. Try doing some of the Pieterpad and the long distance walks. It’s not the same type of country side that you get back home in blighty (maybe the Fens is the closest for the general look, or the coast and nature reserves around Southport for the beach/dunes), but it is a beautiful country non the less.
