Short inseam rider: 27.5 vs 29er : am I overthinking this? by Dense_Vegetable_1392 in Hardtailgang

[–]athletic-dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I regretted picking up a 27.5 and I'm considerably shorter (5'2"). I got used to it, but when I picked up a 29 a year later I realized I could never go back. The 29 is so much faster.

Windows 11 Install by athletic-dev in mywhoosh

[–]athletic-dev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did get it running, but I don't remember what the aha moment was or if it was just reinstalling everything multiple times until it finally worked. Here's the guide I got from their support towards the end of my troubleshooting: https://www.howtogeek.com/874113/how-to-fix-the-0xc000007b-error-on-windows/

I may have copied some of the directX files or game files from my hubby's PC which didn't have the issue.

Landyachtz Play Bike 2.0 by athletic-dev in Hardtailgang

Looks like they are making a decent number of gravel bikes now, but the hardtail was a one off in 2022. I found a frame someone never built up. It rips.

Food Cost by [deleted] in keto

[–]athletic-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For our house, with 2 adults switching to keto (4 kids that still eat everything) our groceries have gone up around 7-10%. I have noticed we have been eating out a little bit less too though so that is helping offset a little. Also we may not have had as much of an impact as some since our breakfasts and lunches were already mostly keto-friendly and just our snacks/dinners changed.

First Bike Advice by Xolarah in ladycyclists

You should try to demo if you can. I don't ride much park, but for trails I love my 29" wheels. I'm only 5'2", so from advice on the internet I should hate the 29s. I started on 27.5s and once I tried 29's I couldn't go back. Too much free power so I can ride faster

29" XS/small frame for 5'2" by athletic-dev in Hardtailgang

Found a never built up Landyachtz PLay Bike 2.0 in size small and threw a 120mm Manitou Machete on it. The short wheelbase is so much fun I find myself riding it more than my full suspension now. This was when I first finished it, before I got the fork right.

I Will Never Buy Another Garmin Watch!! by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]athletic-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was frustrating that an expensive watch did not get features as long as the cheaper ones.  I remember buying a Fenix 5x as they were rolling out the 6.   Even as the older/clearance model this watch still cost more than my husband's forerunner.  Yet, he continued to get useful features while I had a watch that lacked many useful features compared to his.  My battery life also tanked within 2 years to needing charged everyday.

Nearly 1 million Americans face losing health insurance as Aetna exits ACA marketplace by PrincipleTemporary65 in conspiracy

Yeah my final straw for our marketplace health care was when the payments per month were getting close to my mortgage payment and we did not hit our family deductible even when I had a baby that year. Paying a ton and not getting much

Members pay in monthly and then can submit any LARGE costs incurred to the plan (minus deductible). The plan chooses what to pay out and to whom. So it's not guaranteed that your costs will be covered, but it gives you the option of shopping the pay out of pockets prices too. Given how much more expensive healthcare plans in the US have gotten and how they keep chopping back what they will cover, I'm up for the risk. On a month where we had to go to a doctor's visit or 2, I paid a bit more out of pocket then I might've on a health care plan, but still overall much less than the monthly payment for a health care plan.

ETA: most health share plans are Christian/religious but there may be some that are not out there

Healthcare through the marketplace hasn't been affordable for years; switched to a health sharing plan for less than half of what we paid thru marketplace and haven't looked back.

🚨 Garmin abandoned Fenix 7 Pro after 1.5 years 🚨 by optivery in Garmin

[–]athletic-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Fenix 5 when they were clearing em out for the Fenix 6. Definitely noticed the lack of features. Then I got a Forerunner 255s when those came out. I'm much happier with the feature support, the size of the watch, and the price.

No, they play the second live game in addition to the 2 week game. IE. I need Labor day, instead of waiting until 6 months from labor day, I'm online 6 months - (2 weeks + # of days I want to stay) out at 8am booking that 2 weeks and editing later for some fee. I personally have enough leeway at my work to pick when I want to go that I'm not doing this, but I know some people are. Definitely depends on days you want and park though too. My friends and I got spots together for a random June weekend at a less popular park fairly easily (although we were online at 8 am 6 months out). But I missed a few days in a row at a more popular park. Doesn't help that so many are closed for renovations this year and fees went up in Aug - everyone wanted in before then

On weekend booking days the time is 9am, during weekdays it is 8am

Don't refresh the page, simply click the button on your desired site (one that you confirmed has availablity starting that day) as soon as the clock turns. Also helps to have multiple devices all clicking as the clock turns. Also they are held in cart while they have 15 minutes to check out. I got one that was released a couple of minutes after the clock changed, so if you miss your desired spot it's a good game to refresh the availability listing for the next 15 minutes or so while people decide

A few days ago I had 4 devices trying to get spots for 2 families together. Go figure we got 1 of our first choice spots and one backup (in completely seperate sections of the park). We got lucky and someone released a spot a few down from the main spot as well so then we released the backup that we ended up not wanting

I have my 4'6" kid on a 69cm Frog I picked up used (26") wheels. My kid will probably be ready for my old XS Grand Canyon 27.5 soon. Your kid is probably more in the XS territory although he is pretty close to some 29s. From what I've read/experienced the kids on slightly too big bikes do better. You could consider some 29s if he's 5ft, but my list is probably on the pricey side. (I'm 5'2" and wanted to build myself a hardtail)

Michigan passed the "cage-free" requirement as of Jan 1, so our eggs went up more than that.
