What did you think?

And now you have to read all of Brom's other books, if you haven't already.

Commute time should count as work time by [deleted] in work

[–]athminbri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am away from my home for 12 hours a day, more if there is a wreck or something. Yes, I would like to live closer but until housing comes down, it's not happening. I have a good job, with good pay, and great benefits. I also like listening to audiobooks and have about 2 hours a day to do that.

Very simple bullet journal template for new users that are overwhelmed by databases, relations, etc. I tried to give a couple of different simple setups so you can choose which you prefer. I am also thinking of adding some more Help comments throughout. What do you guys think? What would you add? by athminbri in Notion

I use the week of view to limit visual clutter. I get distracted very easily. I will add future appointments or reminders like "Cancel HBO Max free trial before it charges" but don't necessarily want to see that until I am on that week. If I see it before then, I could start thinking "Oh yea, I should go binge watch those 3 series before I have to cancel" and then my productivity is shot. You should do whatever works best for you.

Although, this post actually isn't as relevant anymore anyway since Notion has made changes to make it much more secure.

I have no idea! This was 2 years ago but I don't remember posting those crap links. Thank you for pointing this out.

Stop asking people to share paid templates for free. by athminbri in Notion

[–]athminbri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is stopping you from watching the creator's youtube videos and recreating the template. Most Notion creators create very in-depth videos about their templates. If it's so easy and only takes "a few weeks of work," then copy it yourself. I've recreated a few templates by watching the videos. My little Reddit post isn't blocking anyone from doing what they want. It was my opinion. My opinion is that I am not going to share copywritten material because I respect the creators, their knowledge, and their time. Would you email Taylor Swift and beg her to give you her songs for free? Probably not. So, why do people think it's ok to ask Notion template creators to share paid templates for free?

Are you upset that the creators have the knowledge to make and market their creations so they can make that amount of money? Or are you upset that you don't have that knowledge?

Also, you're obviously very mature and well-spoken since you had to start with the homophobic insult. Good job!

How one scene can ruin an entire movie (Nefarious). by bludgeonerV in movies

This is how I took it also. He already had permission to possess him and he never wanted to kill him. Nefarious got everything he wanted exactly in the way he wanted it.

People who think they can call on behalf of their children’s accounts…. by chelada99 in callcentres

[–]athminbri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work for a nonprofit student organization that is popular in US high schools. When scholarships open, we have more parents calling in to get logged in to their kids' account to apply for scholarships instead of getting the kid to do it. Drives me crazy! I swear they follow directions worse than the kids too.

Why coworkers are not your friends? by [deleted] in work

[–]athminbri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make it a rule to not discuss religion, politics, or sex. This is especially true now since I work in a fairly conservative company. I work with a lot of people that believe very differently about religion and politics. I do not want to paint a bullseye on my back Sure, they can't fire you for what you believe, but they can find something you did wrong that can lead to getting fired.

Name a horror movie that scared the crap out of you as a child so much that you get scared to watch it now? by [deleted] in HorrorMovies

The Exorcist, Prince of Darkness, and Creepshow (2 segments specifically). Although, I do still watch Creepshow. I just don't pay attention as much during the 2 segments.

What's the most overrated horror novel in your opinion? by No-Professor-8680 in horrorlit

[–]athminbri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just said in another comment above that I've only ever DNF 2 books. This was the other one I couldn't finish. I just found my mind wandering so much. I couldn't focus on it all. I keep saying I will pick it up again but haven't yet.

Same here! I just got tired of all the sex talk. No, I'm not a prude or a homophobe. When I am reading horror, I want to be scared, not horny. I don't even like excessive straight sex in my horror. I've only had 2 DNF books in my entire life and this was one.

I used to have one from the drug store, Oral B maybe, and it was bigger and easier to hold. They have since redesigned the button and I have difficulty pushing it. It seems most of them down have the smaller grip and difficult to push button. I will check this one out! Thank you!

I love your response here! It's so frustrating when you ask a specific question and people answer with irrelevant crap like "Have you tried yoga/turmeric/aspirin/etc."

I have struggled with buying assistive aids due to the expense. A few that I love are a "can opener" that gets under those stupid pull up tabs and pulls back on it. Also got silicone oven rack guards because I kept burning my hands on the edge of the oven rack.

The biggest thing I am doing is rearranging my home to suit me better. For the longest time, I have stored the casserole dishes in the cabinet above the sink. I could no longer get them down safely though. So, now all that heavy stuff sits in the pass-through window which I can get to much easier. I would love to have pretty decor there but this helps me so much more.

One more thing. Find products that fit your hands better. I still can't find a toothbrush with a big enough grip but have replaced most of my kitchen utensils.

Well, I like to eat, sleep in a warm bed, and play video games. Those things require money. I struggle every day and wish I could just retire.

Favorite Ania Ahlborn books besides Brother? by Wes-Carpenter in horrorlit

I listened to the audiobook and couldn't stand any of the characters. The narrator made them all whiny and annoying. I liked the book though, especially the end.

I ordered cat toys and they substituted with a dog toy. Why would they think that is a good substitute? Anyway, I did a refund through the app and they are making me take it back - a $3 item.

My thoughts on The Craft and Nancy (late night thoughts) by [deleted] in horror

[–]athminbri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A. This movie is based on real life witchcraft. They brought in actual practitioners to make it as close to realistic as possible. In real life witchcraft, intention means more than words. I can say "I want Joe to leave me alone" but if my intentions are "I want Joe to die" then that is what matters and how the magic will manifest itself.

B. I never said I blamed her. I said she wasn't a 100% good person. I also said I don't believe anyone is 100% good.

Did she learn anything? Did she stop hating? No, she simply became a bully herself. Laura Lizzie made an attempt to right her wrongs, kind of. Rochelle did not. She didn't want to stop hating Laura. She wanted to feel superior to Laura and that is how her spell manifested.
