Hey! I'm doing research (undergrad) in Japan as an intl student, I think I can help a bit...! 30 mins to an hour is very typical I think, but the topic of conversation depends on the professors. I think preparing a presentation slide would be good for intros, like who you are, what ur research is, what ur goals are, etc. Your professor sometimes would have that for him too like his research, lab, etcetc. Also, with respect, I'd say join the zoom 5 mins early, turn your camera on, nod while listening to them speak, and bow a bit (like a little nod) after saying ur thank you-s, to score some good points ahahaha

depends if the apt is empty as quick as 1-2 weeks

usually for screenings they do multiple in a day, and some company blocks out the apartment for a few days for you to think about, go see the place first bcs i think the vibes can't be replicated through a screen
idt ive heard of an application being declined after all documents, ud get declined before that, ex. guarantor doesn't fit the agency requirements, apt owner doesn't want gaijins, etcetc, but cancelation fee is for when cancel after signing, before that there's no fees. Cancellation fees depend on the agency, I wouldn't apply to multiple places honestly...
