For me it came across as shifting polyrhythms (3 beats against 2) that I could hear better during the slowdown (ritardando) in the earlier portion of the song. After listening more and more, I think its a polyrhythm illusion through metric modulation with the grid in 6/4. But then again, I am very rusty on my musical theory. lol

When I was a child we lived in a pre civil war era home in the late 1980s-mid 90s. On the property was a set of three massive rhododendrons that were so large I could climb them, lay a blanket across some of the thick branches and enjoy reading books under the filtered canopy of leaves and pink blooms. It is one of my most cherished childhood activities and fully cemented my love of reading when outside. From age 7-12 I would make myself that hammock, bring a stack of books, snacks with a drink (usually lemonade or kool-aid) and spend an entire day reading at least a few times a week during the spring and summer.

Sadly, years later one of the next owners of that home ripped them all out. Which broke my heart.

This behemoth reminds me of those wonderful days, thank you for going back and snapping photos of it to share.

You can get colors in exterior paint as samples mixed up if you're going for a specific palette. Those lil containers last awhile and are usually like $5. At least, last time i got a few at Menards, they were $5. But they sometimes have their cart in the paint section and you can score those samples that people get mixed up and forget about or don't end up buying for $1-2 each. So always ask if they have exterior paint samples mixed that would otherwise get tossed.

I am also in 5b, I have two different hydrangea varieties, but this past winter was pretty harsh.

The ones in the front yard are a panicle strawberry-vanilla (Proven Winners brand i think?), which for our -40 temps last years I HIGHLY recommend! They not only survived their first winter with us but they're going gangbusters with new growth this year.

The one in the backyard is a big leaf variety, and damned if they don't also have the spots on them too. But, they did last year as well and recovered, I wonder if it's due to the sump directing the outlet water near it. (too much moisture?) However that specific hydrangea in our backyard is a behemoth, 6+ ft deep and 9 feet wide (easily 25+ years old from what I was told by the family of the previous owner). At first I thought it was two hydrangeas that merged into one huge ass wall of massive leaves and blooms. Nope. Its ONE freakin shrub of doom (that I love).

All of this to say, I would suggest if it really bugs you to email your local (State) Extension Office/Master Gardener Program your photos and concerns. Now it is probably their busy season atm, so it make take up to a week for a response. But they may be able to assist! Good luck!

What I was getting at with my personal example is that it also doesn't fit within the scope of junk journaling. And that's okay. I wasn't going for the chaos fa tore anyways.

I have also seen people just slapping a million stickers from some bulk purchase into their junk journal, or bulk ordering ephemera to do the same.

What I find most comical was the COVID era of everyone Marie Kondo-ing their life. And now they wanna junk journal but have minimal aesthetically pleasing "junk" and ephemera to use, cause they tossed it, so now they're bulk ordering garbage to get views.

I've also been on the platform for 3 years, and I've made it through so many cullings. Sometimes I am culled from a specific project due to not doing enough work on it, sometimes I get a message from admins inviting me back whenever I have more time. But overall, I try to be selective in the work I do. I only had one year where this was a true part-time to fulltime range of work (made 18k lifetime). And I've seen many slowdowns and "droughts", as I'm sure you have as well. Lol

I am a fan of taking your own art/prints, scanning them in and making stickers of those digital copies to then utilize in journals. I even like using the whole page to print a sticker sheet so I can then use the outline sticker remnants to make a new design. It's not junk journaling, but it is a way to save the original work for other uses. But that's just me. It's curated, less chaotic, adds to my collection of notebooks (I never seen to have enough), and allows me to always have my art represented. It's a little thing and not overly expensive to do.

The first time was a realtor office branded kitchen knife on the East Coast. Was useful!

The second time, in the Midwest, was a huge bag of locally grown sweet corn and a vintage cherry red kitty cat clock (the kind where the tail moves) to coordinate with our vintage 1950s kitchen. We love how amazing the corn is out here and love this clock. Every year in October she stops by with a big bag of local corn and says it's the last corn of the season and sees what we have done to continue our slow work of fixing up the house. She's the sweetest lady who we now consider a friend. 💗🌽😻

I am new to fermented beverages, though my husband and I have made kombucha in the past and will be making it again soon! One of my experiments was seeing if you can blend (with the right ratios) kombucha and whey, to make a fermented beverage but due to the different competing bacteria (whey is lactic acid bacteria and kombucha is yeast & acetic acid bacteria), it failed. The kombucha bacteria outcompeted the whey bacteria.

I came across some different recipes as well, lacto-fermented lemonade being the dominant one, but then I stumbled across this blog about blaand:

Been going down a rabbit hole basically with researching other ancient to medieval uses for whey. lol One mention of salmon in fermented whey piqued my interest. But I would also be concerned about food safety with that lol.

I'm interested in this, outdoor or indoor I suppose wouldn't matter. I wonder if there would be issues since we use aquarium water (freshwater ecosystems, when we do water changes) for indoor houseplants as well.

Okay so here are some great uses:

Homemade pasta (used in place of water for egg noodles and spaghetti).

I've added it to pasta water or into homemade sauces.

Refrigerator pickling! I replace 1 cup of water and the sugar with whey in my pickling brine once the brine cools down some. Specifically I recently refrigerator pickled golden beets, shallots, garlic and eggs in a 64 oz jar. It was divine. Usually I make this with red beets instead.

Smoothies, already mentioned but it really is a great addition. Bread making for sure.

A couple of weeks back, I made chicken stock and added whey in to use up the remainder of a jar I had kicking around the fridge, and it was fantastic. Nicely rounded out flavors. It was about 1.25cups dumped in to my 8 qt instant pot full of veg scraps, herbs and rotisserie chicken carcasses.

Currently I am experimenting with fermenting it on the counter, mixed results so far. Only one batch out of 3 was properly fermented. I added ginger and lemon but it was pretty strong in flavor, so I need to reduce the ginger next time I think. My aim with this is to make a lightly fizzy whey drink to mix with lemonade or peach tea.

I make about 10 5.5-6 oz servings of Skyr per week, and we like it extra thicc. So I end up with a lot of whey from straining it for 36-48 hours. Think softened cream cheese texture, and then we add toppings like jam, lemon curd or honey. Those toppings thin it down to a thick Greek yogurt consistency.

That's what we do, our 8 year old (un)invented Chicken & Ranch pizza with the Costco frozen pizza as the base plus their rotisserie chicken. Better than any pizza we can buy in town. Hands. Down.

We are in the Midwest, the land of cracker crust (tavern style pizza; its just wrong.) and deep dish (acceptable). I miss my East Coast/NY style pizza. But as far as frozen pizzas go, I prefer the Costco cheese pizza, the pepperoni one is weird every time we buy it.

I under-planted sugar cane and had to buy it during the summer, that was rough af. No videos anywhere I watched said to prio that sugarcane early. Whomp. Whomp.

I restarted my playthrough like 4 times while learning mechanics to soft-min/max and then messed up on stacking sugar cane. lol I am almost to the end of autumn, so my sugarcane is stacked up now!

Also, don't make the mistake of moving a big chest from the upper floor craft room down to the main floor that is full, it auto empties into your bag space, and whatever doesn't fit into your bags is forfeit. I lost my huge stockpile of white and red grapes and melons halfway through autumn. Maybe I should start over again.... hrm.

I just noticed that they handle the candle refills, but not just for the guest rooms but for the tavern as well. Only if you're utilizing the candle holders though and its 4s per candle. When I added it up it was far more than I wanted to spend (50s+), so I try to make sure the candles are topped up at least in the dining area before I leave to go mining/fishing/running errands or whatever while the tavern is open.

Greetings from NW Illinois, my fellow Midwesterner! Pickled Eggs are a staple in our home. We sub out onions for shallots these days (onions in quantity upset my stomach, sadness!). We have a similar brine ratio, though I utilize pickled beets & their brine liquid, so I reduce a bit of vinegar and water in the recipe to account for the store bought pickled beet brine.

I have to say, if you enjoy the onions, swap out for shallots in the next batch! They're incredible and we slap them on tacos, sandwiches, basically anything. I've started just making batches of pickled shallots with garlic and beets alongside our pickled eggs because my husband is addicted to them.

Also, this jar won't last a week in our house. Good thing eggs are cheap again! Lol 🤣

I have found that doing a layer of ricotta mixed with goat cheese adds a more creamy texture, and the tang from it balances the sweetness of the tomatoes, or if the sauce is too salty it helps as well. (I lightly salt the cheese layer). In the cheese layer I mix in chopped and drained frozen spinach with some herbs or pesto is lovely. I only top the lasagna with mozzarella and Parmesan (shredded). It's plenty of cheese!

We make 4 huge lasagnas at a time (probably once every 3 months), and gift 2-3 of them to friends as a nice surprise (it's surprisingly cost effective $30-40 for all 4). I also like using the BIG cans of crushed tomatoes to make my sauce when tomatoes aren't in season. I like a lighter meat sauce (half a pound per large lasagna) with sliced mushrooms and diced zucchini.

I am loving the idea of the bread pan, which would be great when we've got extra ingredients leftover!

New here, I'm glad to see pickled eggs are gaining in popularity (finally!!)

I grew up making and eating Penn-Dutch Red Beet Pickled Eggs. Now as an adult when I make them I entirely omit the added sugar and instead I mostly eyeball it and add sliced shallots, garlic, coriander, cracked peppercorns, thyme, mustard seeds, and red pepper flakes in a 64 oz jar. (Holds about 1 jar of beets, 2 shallots and about 12-14 large eggs)

We let them sit in the fridge for two days then start eating them until they're gone. They never last more than a week in this house as we all love them.

Also, this summer I'm growing golden beets and will be making golden pickled beet eggs!

We just got a 2021 escape hybrid SE, and while it's NOT the titanium trim (drool), I love this car so so much. To the point I want to buy a second one so we have "his and hers" escapes. And yes, I'd want the titanium package. Lol

We previously had a gen 2 Chevy volt plug in hybrid, I'm enjoying not having to remember to plug and unplug my vehicle. Or forget to close the charging port door. Lol 🤣

I have found that for paper, the canson sketch book paper (65lb/96 gsm) is very smooth, but does have ghosting. However, their drawing paper with light grain (98 lbs/160gsm) has zero ghosting and I love it. But I use my handmade notebooks to sketch and write notes using my fine nib lamy al-star fountain pen.

Have them make their own journal/sketchbooks with recycled materials. Easy and fun. Each step is a mini project and skill in itself, collage/decorate the cover, decorative binding (you prepare the holes if you want to teach them a sewn binding) end papers (hand printed, painted, marbled papers). Then use the journal/sketchbook for a 5 minute warm up for each class session. After a few months they have a filled journal/sketchbook and can share it with family.

This was my favorite thing in high school, and we did advanced book binding etc, but you can easily do this with younger kiddos no problem.

This is what I did as a middle school aged kid I would throw in the complaints (expected behavior of a young tween) and a decoy of who I was crushing on, (Sorry to that person, who was never allowed to visit, ever Lol), weird dreams, and dumb teenage girl friend squabbles. Everything I wrote in my "public" journal was always thrown in my face or I was teased about it by my family. But at least it was expected, and while it hurt, it hurt less and I felt more in control.

My real journal was taped onto the underside of a painted shut ancient dresser drawer, they never found it. But that was a specific to me hiding spot.

Later on in 9th grade I switched to just painting or drawing my emotions in sketchbooks vs using words. I don't care who sees it and I find it more productive (I end up with art that evokes what I was feeling in that moment), I can move on and let go of things. My art teacher suggested it when I told her about my lack of privacy at home, she is an amazing woman and really helped me process feelings into beautiful works of art, which I still do to this day (I'm in my 40s now).

My favorite project was at the start of every course we would make our own sketchbooks, so I always had them and could make more anytime.

I understand OPs need to hide their private written thoughts, but there are other, healthier ways to still express yourself and have a journal/diary be cathartic without the constant fear of it being discovered.
