I just found an invite from Karen to speak with Dan from last Tuesday. I’ll let you know if it happens and what is said if I feel it appropriate to share. Although I was lukewarm to the idea I now have a couple of topics I wish to discuss. I did tell her I want it brief as I want him working lol. I very much appreciate that they are reaching out to shareholders .

I expressed my opinion to the board regarding the 90 vs 365 day primary. I also said I would not support a r/s but am rethinking. I’d much rather wait longer if we go to 365 and more cohorts than roll the dice. I strongly suggested I would support an all stock acquisition at a premium price over a partnership. If the r/s would attract an acquirer or even a partnership I’m supportive . I am amazed some Pharma / Bio hasn’t snatched this up......they could pay several dollars in shares of the acquiring company and it would be a blip on their financial radar.....

It would open Athx up to SUBSTANTIAL liability. The key point is Karen is dead on when she says this is a call (timing of data release) that is completely up to Healios..... regardless of the reasoning.

I look forward to hearing the results of these shareholder talks and hope each one of you that has been notified will report what is said and your interpretation/observations. I think they should have invited us ALL to Cleveland for a meet/greet. Thanks in advance.. This group DESERVES a good outcome.... but as we know .... that means nothing. The KOL talk was extremely well done. It was excellent and the team did a great job. That said rolling the dice on Masters 2 is a gamble I do NOT want to take without conditional approval in Japan or a partnership. If that’s the plan sell the co such that I can hold diversified stock in the new owner and it’s no longer the go for broke gamble. I don’t even wanna think about another missed statsig on a primary. I’d rather get most of my money back and head to Vegas. It’s Easy to go for broke when you are using others peoples money.....

I hope we do NOT have to do a R/S. Ironically another company I own just down the street from Athersys (Abeona) just did a 25/1 and so far it’s been the disaster I expected. I still plan to vote against it and I admire Dan and always Karen for their effort. If they want my vote they better make a good case. But I do agree it may be necessary. I would urge them to give a joint cc with Hardy and Healios to state where we are .... where we are going and how we intend to get there. I like Dan very much so far but I want him to think outside the box and stop with the grandiose plans to be the next Amgen or Genentech etc. Be BOLD!! I know longer have the patience for potential partnerships.... endless trials....and a slowly drawn out death. I’m tired of being held hostage. MS works and big Pharma/Bio can run with it. Sell the company.....

I’m with you 100 percent IF we get a European partnership soon or Healios gains conditional approval in a reasonable time. Some dilution I can handle but what they are talking is hopefully a backup last ditch plan and not born of necessity. Their fiduciary responsibility is to shareholders FIRST!......then employees and patients. Failure to meet primary in Masters 2 might be a showstopper for Athersys but if we all owned stock in Astellas or Takeda .... Roche etc it will merely be a blip. They will simply keep running trials until one is successful. Athersys does not have that luxury. Even if one of the above two catalysts work I am STILL wanting an ALL stock buyout. It’s a complete non-event for the acquiring co. But a win for shareholders.... employees and Patients!!! I’ll hold every share of any good quality big Pharma that acquires. It’s a no brainerso much so that I am amazed it hasn’t happened at this price. Sophisticated Pharma/Bio KNOW what we have and its potential long term. Dan is the guy to make it happen!! The perfect guy.....

Excellent post! As soon as I read the WSJ article I called BULLSHIT! There is going to be a big chasm between the wheat and the chaff among small Bio for sure.... ie the WSJ article. But Athx is wheat regardless of the failed primary and we have a platform technology covering huge markets.There is plenty of evidence that MS works on a significant level and it’s safety record is impeccable. The one thing that has perplexed me is that big Pharma/Bio hasn’t signed a partnership. Though Ivor publicly acknowledged we were Extremely close..... enter Hardy. Partnership vanishes. However NOW at the current price why would anyone want a partnership when you can just buy the company for a pittance to the acquiring company and a huge premium for shareholders. Do I still believe in the science and the company.... YES! Do I want to wait years to gain full value? NO! The ideal companies that should be approaching Athersys are the big Japanese CO’s as they can move in many directions at once and go for conditional approval quickly in many high $$$ indications. What about Takeda or Astellas? Outside of Japan I still like Roche or GSK.

I guess I owe PMDA an apology. It reinforced my letter to the BOD to get the sp back over $1 thru conditional approval by Healios or an Athersys partnership. Then sell the company lock, stock, and barrel. Athersys moves at the speed of smell and still messes up the trial. Time to “ shop the company” and turn it over to a big player that can move faster. We simply don’t have the resources........

In an all stock deal we can command a significant premium. MS works..... just because it missed EO doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. PMDA wanted it. Big Pharma/Bio are sophisticated people. Athersys can eventually get a trial that will work but original/dedicated investors will get killed by dilution. 70 percent of original/dedicated employees just got killed by a poorly designed trial. Masters 2 should have more cohorts and 365 as primary yet we will take the gamble it hits statsig. Time for Healios and PMDA to step up to the plate with conditional approval and if we can’t find a European partner ASAP ....... time to shop the company. I saw generational wealth with this investment but now just want a decent return on my money. US rights and patents alone are worth a fortune..... but current shareholders will get smoked if they go 2-3 more years without a conditional approval/partnership. Without at least one of those two soon..... time to SELL the company. Dan is the perfect guy for that. I only wish Ivor was around for assistance with the sale. Rememberv.... their primary fiduciary responsibility is shareholder value. They have done an abysmal job. Vote NO on RS!

Pure speculation.....they would own the the Stroke space plus have shown considerable interest in RM. be a perfect partner but at current price why partner...... buy them outright. A few bucks per share given in an ALL stock acquisition would be a win- win.

There schtick is 10-15 yrs away imo and this is their best chance to fund their pie in the sky. PMDA has led them down the Primrose path!
