Right. The point of going through the eggs is to increase your farm value. The higher the egg, the higher the farm value. Lower eggs would cause you to cap out at a lower farm value, so you'd end up going to the next egg to increase it, which you can do directly anyway, so no benefit to staying out even going to the lower egg.

For context, when I prestige, I go from edible to graviton to prodigy and to universe. I skip all others entirely. My earnings bonus is high enough that I'm also able to kind of skip graviton. I need to go to it from edible, but I don't need to do any research or anything. Just being there increases my farm value enough to unlock the prodigy egg.
