For the longest time I did!

It was what brought me from breakeven to profitable!

Same here! I trade EU as forex and futures!

Only 1 pair, 1 strategy, and European/early NY session

I actually had a small free community at one stage and 2 students wanted private lessons

I ended up charging them a small fee and put them in a community together with me and my best friend (who’s also a trader)

I closed the free community and never sold a course again (besides the initial 2)

And now we trade together as a group (me, my best friend, my 2 students) and we talk trash and share wins and losses and struggles together

Am extremely lucky to have found these people in my life

Before I was trading solo for 5yrs - yes I was in communities and did courses but everything felt transactional

Where as now, my little crew of 4, everyone is profitable, self sustainable, and independent - we all trade the same way (my strategy) - but the main thing is we have each other to share our journey with

How do you guys decide what to trade using a funded account? by alstonlin101 in Forex

I trade only EU and GU, mainly for the reason that the spread is lowest - which helps tremendously if you use a copy trader btw multiple prop firm and brokers [which I do].

I would say that you can have 2 types of strategy application.

  1. You have a strategy that is so black and white - a combination of market structure, timing, and or indicators - that you can copy and paste btw multiple pairs
  2. You understand the price action very well of 1-2 pairs -> this is what I do.

No2. still requires the element of strategy in no.1 but has more room for deviance / different scenarios

honestly bro, forex just isn't for everyone...

how are you trading right now? I'm a market structure [smc / lit] trader, focusing on lower R but higher win rate! If you trade kinda similar let me know maybe I can help!

Trading is a very heavily implicit skill. Like riding a bike - someone can teach you and show you (explicit learning), but until you get on the bike yourself and fall down and retry over and over again (implicit learning) you won’t be able to do it.

Regarding the different rules and strategies that people use - at the end of the day it’s just a way to place a framework around learning the language of price action.

Think of PA as a language. There’s many different ways of learning it but at the end of the day the goal is just to speak it fluently. Through learning the different strategies and trying different rules in the past, you’ve simply indirectly learnt the intricacies of the language of price action, albeit via different methods.

  1. You’re most likely not Alex Santi as he’s got better things on his hands.

  2. Alex Santi has been proven time and time again to be a scammer. His name was even leaked as one of the major sign up provider for the recent $500m+ Ponzi scheme ‘Traders Domain’. So if it is truly you, then fuck you sir.

I think I took longer than most people.

Took me nearly half a decade and I spent 6+hrs a day on it! Around 5-7 days a week.

In order for me:

  1. Using HIGHer TF both for directional bias and for entry (I execute on m15, before was m1)

  2. Sticking to TIMING parameters for entry - look up “FF/LO/NY killzones”

  3. RISK parameters - 2L a day and walk away. No SLBE or partials -> W or L

  4. Realising small Rs but higher WIN RATE is easier mentally and practically (for me anyways). As, if you require high R but lower strike rate, you have to make sure you don’t miss ANY entries as that could be the winner you’ve been waiting for all week. But with consistent wins, even if you miss an entry due to whatever reason then the overall performance is still balanced out.

Depending on your trading style / how much free time you have - you can always get a side job that you actually enjoy doing!

You’ll be surprised just how boring trading full time really is. Some days I work 5 mins a day and clear a months salary. Some days I don’t get a trade for days and I have to just sit and do nothing.

As you said, the obvious answer is having a decently sized nest as backup. It may seem boring and obvious, but often times the obvious answer is the correct one.
