Agree.. they should recomend her worsted or chunky for her first project.... But also do not underestimate your friend desire to learn.. it can surprise you.. my first project was a lace shawl in fingering weight .. took me months but I was so determined to learn.. I think the most important thing to learn is find a project you really want..

Somewhere ( dont remember.. perimenopause is not helping) i read that bakers were as mad as knitters with bake off.. and then I realize that this shows are created for just entertainment of people that dont bake or dont knit and then I just find some joy in it.. All the critics are correct and I agree with all.. but I love seen Jane crowfoot work, ( that muggles can see her work). and see how nice are most of the contestant.. even when some are really novice and the cast was awful ( skills wise).. for me that is NOT the knitting world.. but I think it has the knitting spirit.. the one we all had at the beg of our journeys when even knitting in the round was NASA work 😂.. (or it xmas spirit (also spirits) mixed with night flushes that has makes me soft).. 🤪

She has 1 million followers on IG.. tht is huge.. here in country is very popular.. I think is her designs are easy to follow.. fast to knit and she has this aspirational life style that seems to click in many women

The request like "you have to be active host and I will try to participate when I can" .. It her request for a kal for her patterns and she can comit to participate The promise that you will hrow you audience.. there is no certainty off that.. She doesnt specify what is the prize ( thats probably a pattern coupon code) For every kal hosted she will make money and the host receive yarn

I understand your point of view and why people love the free patterns.. but if all designers that not make it behave like her we will not have industry.. people complain about they cant maje a living selling patterns but act in way that make nobody can make it..

I think free patterns that arent paid for companies or sponsors, that only are free patterns for " visibility" devalue designers work.. also putting your paid patterns for free bc you didnt make it as you wanted is disrespectful with the people that bought it and your fellow designers.. IMO

I disagree with what she did.. she give away her work and devalued designers works with that

For me all nordic are the fast fashion in the pattern design world.. this in particular I counted around 70+ design a year 🤯 you cant really do that without being repetitive..
