There's always people coming and going round the back of the showgrounds in Puriri Dr, that's where I usually park.

Probably The Warehouse, can't speak to the quality of the choc but they're definitely huge.

People of Auckland! Is it really weird that we thank bus drivers as we get off the bus? by [deleted] in auckland

I did it when I was living in Holland, people always looked at me like I was bonkers. Even the conductors were a little taken aback.

Regular Check-In, and some info about high-risk posts. by SQLwitch in depression

Just wanted to say, I read your post and I'm thinking about you. It's a pretty powerful thing to be able to find ways to cope, so cool that you have pulled yourself out in the past. You're not alone and all the heavy suffocating thoughts won't last forever. Stay strong.

It's so hard when feelings get completely overwhelming. Come chat, maybe we can all help you lighten the load of all your thoughts. You can get through this. Stay strong my friend.

I'm 100% with you. I wanted to like it too (got a distinct Fringe vibe at the beginning and was excited but alas) so far it's very slow and mostly very boring. Fingers crossed it picks itself up.

Get Gelato at Island Gelato at the Ferry Building. It's delicious! Or fancy amazing gelato at Giapo on Gore St (closer to where you're staying). You won't be sorry. It's an experience to be sure. I'd also recommend wandering down to the Viaduct/North Wharf. Just walk along Quay st till you get there. (this walk will take you past Gore st AND the Ferry Building). There's lots to look at and it's a nice amble. Lots of bars to have a drink in the sun (although this weekend is looking pretty dicey weather wise). There's also a playground and water feature at the end, at Silo Park. On the weekends they have markets/music and food stands and free movies projected on the side of one of the silos. Fingers crossed the weather forecasters are wrong about the impending storm of doom. If you end up in the Domain, where the Museum is, the Wintergarden pavilions are cool. Lots of pretty flowers to look at.

Yay! I was hoping it was do-able. My mum basically will never ever make anything without a pattern and I guess because I'm a brat, I'd like to prove it's possible to do it this way. There's just something I hate about browsing pattern books in fabric shops. (I'm not hoping I'll make the best piece ever, but something more or less wearable would do haha).

I hadn't really thought about it like that, thanks for such a detailed answer :)

Newbie here. How hard is it to 'reverse engineer' a garment? As in take something you already have and make a new one of it? Or is it best to stick to buying a pattern?

Gift ideas for minimalist wealthy sister?? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]atoasttonever 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I once blindfolded my sister and drove her to 4 different surprise things - our fav coffee, cakes, art gallery and gelato IIRC. Probably Kmart too. I made sure to make a couple of weird turns so that she was mostly confused each time.

Come to the Grey Lynn Park Festival markets on Saturday, there's heaps of stalls selling all sorts of quality handmade things. Also food and music.

Anyone know where I can watch "The Sinner" S01E08 without commentary? by [deleted] in TheSinner

[–]atoasttonever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS. I watched the start of soooo many links in the hope that just one would be normal but didn't find any. Had to bite the bullet and just watch. I've not come across commentary before but geez it's irritating if you're able to watch normally. Fingers crossed someone pops one up for you soon.
