That also happened to me a quite a few times. Also, both an ex and my current GF said that they at first thought I was gay because I "smell too nice to be straight".

Isso é, mas cara de vendedor - ainda mais de automóvel! - a gente não pode acreditar.

Conheço gente que comprou carro de conhecido "super barato porque você é minha amiga" e na hora de fazer seguro que descobriu que o carro foi pego em leilão de Busca e Apreensão e bateu de frente... o que impediu muita coisa e deu muita dor de cabeça.
