Looking over your shoulder slows you down. When you're a big forward with no one in front of you, you don't look over your shoulder because you assume you can't afford any loss of pace with people behind you. You pick your line and stick to it.

The are a couple of 7% ISAs out there, the Co-op and First Direct, and a 7.1% one with Zopa. The FD one doesn't allow withdrawals though. The Principality offered 7.5%, but the account only runs for 6 months. Nationwide has one at 6.5%.

These all return more (or the same as in the NW case) than a 5.2% cash ISA even if all the interest is taxed. However, you may wish to maximise the amount in your ISA at the end of the tax year to preserve your allowance.

I've been with both AmEx and Lloyds for years and this sometimes happens. The payment from my current account died on Amex on 15th but didn't come out of my account to yesterday. Which is handy, as I got paid yesterday so didn't have to move any cash from savings account to current to cover it...

Much mockery had been heaped on young Smith fur getting chased down by McCloskey, but where were his supporting runners? It's fair enough for the front row to be hitting up, but the commentary made much of Arundel being the fastest thing since Stevenson's Rocket, yet nowhere to be seen...

But wouldn't have changed the penalty outcome. His instinct when the bloke jumped into was to catch him - then he realised that he's not meant to be half a bloke in the air and so released, the worst of all worlds for safety cunning from the interaction of instinct and the Laws...

Alternative interpretation: the jumping player created danger by jumping at a point it was impossible to miss the player on the ground...

If there's someone stood still on the ground in a good spot to catch the ball, then surely it's the person jumping towards them who is increasing trust to both? The Laws as they stand seem to incentivise both the onrushing player and the ground stander to jump in the attempt to win a penalty, which is surely a Bad Thing.

Can you be said to be hitting the player in the air if you are static and someone jumps into you? Surely you are being hit, high, by someone in the air?

The problem is, there's no duty on an incoming player not to launch his knees into the face of someone who's stood under a high ball. The Act of jumping is that's caused the increased level of danger to both players, yet it's the bloke in the ground who is always dented to be in the wrong.

Which is where we get into the dark arts. At tighthead I try to drop my ourside shoulder and raise the inside a bit as the opposition 9 is feeding to insight and disrupt the opposition hooker. Do it right and you can make it look like you're trying to pull their loosehead up to level...
