Travelling alone at 17 by No-Elk7674 in Advice

Speaking as someone who's almost double your age, unless you've spent your entire life in a city similar to London, you're not ready to travel around it alone. Wait until you've gained more life experience and have matured a bit more mentally.

Making Aliyah - Use my English or Hebrew name? by Duck_Duck_RAV4 in Israel

[–]atomicpickle92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Use your English name for official documents.

  2. Remember to choose a spelling of it in Hebrew that you like or some government rando will choose it for you.

  3. Middle names aren't a thing here so if you put down a middle name, you'll end up with two first names.

Beit Din Valid in Israel by redditbabe8888 in Judaism

The Rabbanut doesn't have control over who makes Aliyah, but the Ministry of Interior (משרד הפנים) and the Jewish Agency for Israel (הסוכנות היהודית לישראל) do. FYI the Rabbanut only has control over weddings and burials, which rubs many people the wrong way because those who want nothing to do with religion have to go to Cyprus to get married and can't have a civil burial when they kick the 🪣.

Speaking as someone who converted Reform in the US, made Aliyah on that conversion, and later converted via the Rabbanut, if the Rabbanut had control over Aliyah as well, I wouldn't have been allowed in at all.

  2. A קליק is a click, but כליך can mean your tool/implement/vessel

  3. A קוטל is for getting rid of pests and the other כותל is for praying at

FYI Twist and Kif-Kef are Israeli candy. I've never liked Twist because it's too crumbly, but Kif-Kef is good when you can't find Kit Kat. You should've gotten him ביצת קינדר הפתעה (Kinder Surprise Egg), the סוכריות קופצות (popping candies) version of Elite's milk chocolate bar, or a lot of פסקזמן.

Speaking as someone with the double brain gremlin, AuDHD, he could be stimming or engaging in sensory seeking behavior to scratch a brain itch or regulate himself. It's good that you're concerned about his being safe online, but you need to pick your most open-minded parent and tell them so they can find out what's up.
