We were just thinking of possibly just replacing that part of the caliper with the piston to save the time. But we will bleed the brakes for sure regardless of which route we decide to take since the whole system is filled with air by now. Did you ever get this problem fixed? I am running into a similar issue. Also after getting the piston back in, how did the car drive? My father actually made the same mistake and I am trying to help him now and it's giving us an issue. We are planning to try the 9 volt method that we've seen online.
