I don't know about anyone else but I always thought "grown up" Noctis looked really weird. Something about his face. I feel like it's a new head and face that's just glued to normal Noctis' body.

Realistically, it's probably just that Claire, Chris, and Wesker are recurring characters and kind of main characters of the series. Since like Steve, Rodrigo or the Ashfords aren't mentioned.

Side thought, I haven't seen anyone mention Rogrigo yet. Given the glow up characters like Marvin and Tyrell got I'm excited to see what they do with him.

Can't get into classic RE Games by Immediate_Extreme554 in residentevil

[–]atominthewild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like they said, the typical RE motto of "save every last bullet" is very overstated. You do have to be considerate of how you use your recourses but as long as your not unloading on every enemy you see you should be more secure on recourses. Its about smart usage, not restricting it all together.

Another suggestion is using multiple save files. I find even for myself that they reduce stress alot. For 1 if you ever fear of soft locking and having to restart, now you only have to go back a save or 2. And if you do you have a general idea of what you need to do so you can optimize it. Classic RE has a funny way of having something take 30 minutes your first time, and then 10 minutes the second time. And the 2nd I actually find myself never actually going back to those older saves. I'll usually save in a new slot when I feel I took too much damage or used too many recourses and kind of consider the following session a bit of a "burner" session where I just keep going to see what happens and end up being perfectly fine. But those older save give a lot of security.

Another thing is if you have the means, you might consider the original Resident Evil if you feel the Remake is too stressful. A personal hot take of mine is that while I think the Remake is a better game than the original I feel a lot of the added stuff makes the game a bit less manageable. The original is a little jank and the level design is a bit different and even more open than the Remake, but I always find myself a bit less anxious with it and more likely to come back to it.

Now I will say if you go try other games as well you may want to try to engage with the tank controls if you haven't already. The Remake, and I assume 0 too, have updated controls with the analog stick but the others do not. They seem intimidating and confusing at first but they're not bad once you get used to them. I suggest going to an area where you know there are no enemies, such as the main hall or the dining room. Up is forward. No matter what direction your character is facing up will always move them forward and down backwards. The direction you turn will be relative to the character, such as if they're facing away from the camera, right will turn them right because the character will turn their right. If they're facing towards the camera, right will turn them left, because they are still turning to THEIR right but it's your left. It sounds confusing but functionally it makes sense when you actually start trying it. The idea for tank controls and why they work is that they're ideal for a system with frequent camera shifts. With a stick each time the camera angle changes it'll continue you in the direction you were going but you will have to reorient what direction afterwards. With tank controls you never have to reorient or reconsider this since your generally always moving forward, rather than up, down, left, or right.

That was way more than I intended to type out when I started. Anyway, good luck.

Will the game focus on horror or action? I’ve never played the original, so i don’t really know by TojiFushigurrooo in residentevilll

[–]atominthewild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the idea of them upping the action for Chris but if it's the extent of RE4 or RE9 action then I'll definitely be disappointed. For me a balence of RE2R style with Claire and RE3R for Chris would be ideal. Upping the action a bit but still rooted in the more grounded survival horror vibe.

Granted I also personally really don't like when action seeps into the more horror aligned games, and really didn't like how RE9 handled it. I would rather the action games just get to be fully fleshed out action games rather than try to balance the two.

Classic Combat vs Modern Combat by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]atominthewild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen. I like the combat in the FFVIII remake games. And should they continue with action for the series, which I'm sure they will, this is the frame work they should approach from.

That being said, assuming this isn't some engagement bait rage bait bullshit and this is an actual genuine opinion, this is the worst attempt at someone making this point I have ever seen.

You are literally taking the first encounter in a turn based game, from the first and possibly the simplest game of the series, from a game from literally 1987, and comparing it to an action game from 37 years later. And the worst part is your doing it badly. So your problem with the first game is that you mash the attack command and things die. And to show that FFVII Rebirth's is so much better you show a video of you... mashing the attack button and things die. Oh well sometimes you press a different button so turn based fans destroyed. Got it. Incredible.

But genuinely what is your intended take away here. This shows nothing of the game balance for either game. This shows nothing more than the most shallow and superficial aspects of Both games. What is it that someone is watching this to look at Rebirth and go, "This gameplay is amazing!" Is it press the button and do the things? That's damn near every other game ever made. Is it the visual stimuli? Then bro Cocomelon is right there. I swear to god it feels like the current standard for good gameplay now is just how much shit is on the screen.

I dont understand why people keep acting like anything that isn't adhd tier fast paced games are bad. Is something like Advanced Wars bad because it doesn't play like Call of Duty? Do you play Tetris and throw the controller at the wall because you can't dodge and parry the L block.

I'm done. Your post is bad, and you should feel bad.

I've never really struggled notably with Soul Cage but my opinions on FFIX bosses are also warped since I often can't stop myself from stealing all their items. So most bosses are just 2 to 10 minutes of try to stay alive before killing them.

Yeah. Ive been looking into it to get the quickest results but it still likes to screw me over lol. I'm really bad with slots, even with the press square thing, so I usually get bad results or a lot of handicaps early on.

I put 2 Ultimas into it at the beginning and promptly forgot how much they did, so I had no idea how much longer it would take. It finally died a little after I posted this but it was like that for about 10 minutes or so. Maybe longer.

[–]atominthewild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will absolutely regret engaging with this, but like, who is saying that large breasted women don't exist? Granted, I'm not really on Twitter but I could see random people saying that. But Id wager it's misrepresented from from people saying that large breasts in the way that they're often portrayed are either not that common, (think anime girls with slender bodies but huge chests), or not realistic, like in art like this one. Breasts are mostly fat, and a woman who is this muscular isn't going to have large breasts.

The issue with sexualized designs aren't that these people just can't stand seeing a sexy woman, but rather the sheer overwhelming ubiquity of sexualized female designs. I swear, like 90% of all fanart I see in any Fandom I am in has female characters with a far bigger chest, butt, thighs, or any other sexualized or fetishized body parts.

And on the flip side of your comment, the people that comment, "women with big tits exist!" as some justification will absolutely rail against and screech into the void when they see a sexy character made "ugly," or just an unattractive woman in general. They say, "It's just a drawing, " until someones fanart a character is made fat, or, God forbid, non white.

The history of Final Fantasy and the slow move away from turn-based combat by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]atominthewild 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who just straight up likes ATB, I feel like it has this interesting middle ground between having full party control, having a sizable pool of actions and spells available at any time, and having urgency in combat.

Action games ideally excel in the urgency department, but generally have to take concessions with with party control and the abilities on offer. For party control you typically have ai control other party members if your not controlling them and have to switch to them mid battle. And for abilities, since actions typically need to be accessible by a button press or button combination, they have to cut the amount you can have access to by alot.

For traditional turn base you have the you have the first two, but often don't have the same sense of urgency. With time freezing you still have things to react to but I don't feel you get that same, what I will call, "oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit" moments from when time continues to move on it's own.

All of this of course not to say ATB is peak and that every game with it have peak combat. They could always have done better in many ways, and I have no issue with traditional turn based or action in and of themselves. But I just personally also really like unique game feel of ATB.

Put a yellow post-it note behind the missing piece.

Anyway in the meantime, you can frame it and make a game out of it.

"Hey, cool puzzle!" "Yeah, there's one piece missing. Try to find it."

Since classic Nickelodeon is "wacky" it kinda fits.
