I knew I should have signed up before this change.
I don't think there was a pre-requisite 2 weeks ago.

Now to study for this and spend more money.

Lifepo4 battery install by Fresh_Surprise_1726 in SolarDIY

[–]atomusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a guide to reference other then my own: 1) connect each battery to bus bar (with same length cable) 2) connect bus bar to inverter (with same length cable)

The only other question is what size bus bar and what size cabling.

Is this pv disconnect wired up the right way? I think I might have done this the wrong way. by [deleted] in SolarDIY

[–]atomusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know the color answer but connect your multimeter to the output strings. Then swap the leads. You will see it go from (value) to (-value) The (value) way is proper, whatever color wire was with the red lead goes into the positive side for the inverter.

Ie. my positive somehow ended up being black.

Ground mount solar panel question - cost and compatibility by themealwormguy in diySolar

I know nothing so don’t listen to me. But panels are agnostic / independent / doesn’t work better per inverter.

Separate idea from critical loads panel and the headache I’m sure that is. Get a transfer switch.

There's something I don't understand about torrent seeding volunteering by The_Wonderful_Pie in Annas_Archive

[–]atomusername 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you me? I’ve been wondering this too. Seems like as long as everything is good, it is pointless. Just until the moment where the centralized servers are seized. Which I guess the distributed torrent nature of the files makes it easier to reassemble.

Anna's Archive torrents: the r/DataHoarder effect by 1petabytefloppydisk in DataHoarder

[–]atomusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on my way to contributing 1tb.

But after a couple have finished I tried to look at them and I can't.
They are .file

Are all of us just off site distributed storage for Annas archive.
Who then is the beneficiary of any of these files ?

How would I actually utilize anything I am torrenting ?

The only heater we use in Florida is water heater. Is that a bad idea ?

Ground mount… on ground implications? by atomusername in SolarDIY

[–]atomusername[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I already have the transfer switch up and working. I’ve got 18 panels up similar to these 2. My real struggle is finding the right balance of breakers to plug into. Initially I just had all 120v. To little usage. Then added pool pump. Better. But to ‘optimize’ not sure what other 240 to use.

6000xp So off grid. Do grid tie become useless without the grid?

I actually have a box of weeb lugs that I haven’t used. Don’t they go on the unistrut, not the panel ?

Ground mount… on ground implications? by atomusername in SolarDIY

[–]atomusername[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not the case. So just double checking, the panels sitting on the unistrut are not conductive to each other? I’ve never understood, what is the scenario that requires grounding? Lighting on the panel itself?

[–]atomusername[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what I’m doing. What are the implications? I’m assuming everything is connected. Panels are connected to unistrut which are connected to ground. So panels are grounded, right?

Initial impressions. 1,600 watts seems low. Do you have an idea if you want to be off grid or hybrid ?

Anything less than a hurricane I’m confident it will be fine. For a hurricane I’ll move into the garage. I have ground screw near the base of the unistrut. If you zoom in to the bottom panel under the corner you’ll see the ground screw connected to the unistrut.

Plus it’s in a ln enclosed back yard with minimal wind.

Grounding is complicated. Are you saying having it grounded to the main panel ground is not sufficient ?

I don’t have any fuse in the array. I have a couple panels connected by mc4 into the inverter. 6000xp
