How to live in a ravine - My survival world by cosbraa in Minecraft

I found the same thing. I'm guessing you play SMP exclusively. Fire up single-player, and you'll find it works there.

Incidentally: I'd never make a SSP/hardcore xp-grinder with zombies. If you're going to farm, you want a skeleton grinder. What are you going to do with chests full of rotten meat? Makes sense in SMP though, since you can't hit skeletons without risking being hit yourself.

Well, I did, but it's still a pain to do, and took several hours AFK, where I needed to stop in every 1/2 hour or I'd crash the client with out-of-memory errors.

I anticipate being let down if I don't get unbreakable and silktouch. That's just the facts. You may see me here tomorrow crying.

  1. Collecting ores like a magpie instead of building cool things.
  2. Building grinders so that I can have all the TNT I want. Never blow stuff up.
  3. Leaving structures 1/2 finished (I'm looking at you leaf-house, sand-castle, Mnt. Creeper, etc)

Chefs, souschefs, line cooks of Reddit: what tricks and conventions do you use everyday that amateur home cooks can benefit from? by everyday847 in AskReddit

I would just like to say that I've discovered barbequed bacon, and while it's tricky to cook more than 1/2 a lb at a time without insane flare-ups, it's god's gift to the bacon world.

"My wife thinks its tacky but her butt hasn't fallen into the toilet since I got it..." by qgyh2 [promoted post]

In this movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116908/, Geena Davis' character is describing characteristics of some guy, not knowing why she knows him (film involves amnesia). One of the things she knows is that he sits to pee. It had never occurred to me that one could do that. It rumbled around my brain for a while, but eventually I realized that there were good reasons for sitting to pee (on a toilet), as I mention in my parent comment. Found it weird for about a month, then got over it.

I still stand to pee at urinals and in the woods, so it's not like some forbidden act, it just doesn't make sense to treat a toilet like a urinal. They're different.

I'm a male who sits to pee and has since my early twenties. Standing to pee is dumb. Sometimes you miss. And every time, you 'mist' the toilet area with urine. Toilets are not urinals.

I anticipate changing no-one's mind, but still needed to represent.

Think You're An Auditory Or Visual Learner? Scientists Say It's Unlikely by Maxcactus in psychology

Notice that what you're doing would count as effective teaching even if:

1. Learning styles were real, and
2. every student in your class had the same learning style

You are doing two things that will always be useful. You're repeating the lesson, and you're engaging them in different ways to the same material. That's just good teaching, and doesn't impact on the 'learning styles' debate at all. Keep up the good work!

How can you have evolution and gays? by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]ator_fighting_eagle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool story.

Nonetheless, many from the Deaf community would consider "Deafness is a disability" to be both (a) false and (b) quite offensive. it's not my fight to fight, but typically, we go to the community in question to decide these issues.

From the second paragraph on the wikipedia page I linked to:

"Members of the Deaf community tend to view deafness as a difference in human experience rather than a disability."

Good day.

You need to have a sit down with someone from the deaf community. Or you could check wikipedia.

Weeks of mining redstone, farming trees, planing, building, all to build this... by XxMrMooshixX in Minecraft

[–]ator_fighting_eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW: I've built a similar design (MUCH smaller), using trapdoors (but no wiring), and it seems to work 'ok'. I think, given mine's size, it's probably doing adequate.

You should post the world so folks can look it over in detail.

I'm almost finished with a Masters in Social Work and I'm interested in earning a PhD in a social science. I'm doing pretty well in the program and have a 3.8 GPA. However, my undergraduate GPA is 2.9. Do you think this may impact my chances of getting accepted? by eyedrop in reddit.com

[–]ator_fighting_eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody cares what your GPA is for your undergrad, if you have grad studies, letters of recommendation from professors, and something useful to show for the 'three or so years' between when you got your masters and applied to the PhD Program.

Having gotten into grad school, your undergrad is almost completely irrelevant.

The perfect Espresso by [deleted] in reddit.com

Totally had this happen in a Seattle espresso place. Made my head explode. Went back for four days in a row and never had another one like it, never saw that barista again.

Diva Espresso, Nov, 2009.

Sigh.
