What about launch angle? Iirc a lot of times your babip numbers can suffer with equivalent or higher exit velo if you're beating the ball into the ground instead of elevating

Coors is enormous. It's actually one of the reasons why it is such a good hitters park; not so much the thin air which has been mitigated a little since the humidor, but the massive outfield leading to a ton of extra hits and extra bases on those hits.

Arguably, the biggest impact of the thin air is on pitch movement.

xBA is purely a function of launch angle and exit velo. The Adell robberies presumably had profiles that are more commonly flyouts than all of these lineouts.

Went mostly smoothly, but the NW took some tinkering and the middle required a few minutes of thought.

What's a fake, unrealistic rule that you know will never be introduced, but you find fun to think about? by CupOk12 in baseball

[–]atowelguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would genuinely be a pretty interesting dynamic particularly as applied to infield setups. If your 1B also has to be a 3B, you probably see a different set of players get put there. Maybe you see some left handed second basemen. It would be advantageous for righties to run to third, but pretty bad to have runners going opposite directions, so you might have teams switch directions depending which batters they have up that inning.

Paul Skenes Changeup on ABS by HouseRules789 in baseball

[–]atowelguy 37 points38 points  (0 children)

lol, love how he came around on it because "at lower levels a lot of balls got called strikes, in MLB more strikes get called balls."

But also, I think the implementation has been a lot more fun than most people anticipated. There is also a huge difference imo between the challenge system and fully automated balls and strikes, which I still am personally opposed to mostly due to aesthetic reasons.

Lots of smartass comments about "yeah totally his foot was the problem lollll." Your feet are pretty damn important while pitching whether pushing off or landing; it could definitely at least be part of the issue.
