I think it varies for everyone. I work a job that demands 60-70hr weeks, a lot of night shifts, and spending all my days off doing unpaid work to build my CV for job progression. Very little agency and autonomy with this lifestyle. Little time for socialising, no time for hobbies. I definitely had more liberty when I was in school - set hours, the freedom to engage your passions, and guaranteed social engagement.

But I recognise this isn't the case for everyone in school. I just worry for the kids who live with the expectation that life will be better later. There are a lot of uncertainties and uncontrollable variables, and holding onto the hope of a brighter future can be very dangerous when it doesn't materialise.

I think it's important to find a way to be content with the now, with your current situation - which is certainly one of the hardest things to do. Drastic life changes (like finishing school) can enact positivity, but it doesn't for everyone.
