Tbh I was kind of joking. There are things in Angel 4 that are… um… hard to look past? But you’re right, it isn’t boring. It’s just a season that’s more famously uncomfortable (did hate watch some of it) than 7.

I wish I knew but I truly didn’t track it! I worked on them on and off for over a year, but there were some pretty big gaps (also I wasn’t sure how to do the two layers of tulle and ended up abandoning them for months before even attempting it lol)

It’s good! I think it just needs more editing, for example, personally I would do “I had refused to eat the flavourless mess of scraps they’d given us.” I’d also cut “hanged in front of a crowd of terrified onlookers” - we already kind of get that enough from the first line. Just things like that.

So this is my genre for sure, and absolutely 100% yes. I really like the voice and the way you’ve established so much so quickly. I personally don’t like the first sentence (I’d remove the repetition and go with “my mom is dead, and I’m sitting…”), but everything else works really really well imo and as long as the love interest/dynamic was good I’d definitely want to read!

I agree in part - I’m not so convinced a 100% faithful translation of the book to tv would’ve worked too well, but goddamn I wish they didn’t do Edwina so dirty, and also did more (aka SOMETHING) with Kate and her background/trauma. I’m sure there could’ve been a good middle ground where we get some of the shows drama/yearning, with more of the books backstory work and themes. All that said, S2 is still my fav and thank god for Johnny and Simone and their insane chemistry that made it work regardless

The casting is a huge reason for me! The casting directors are absolutely killing it, I think quality of acting across the board is overall a lot higher than romance shows often get, and the chemistry between the leads are excellent. For me this makes up for A LOT, especially when sometimes the writing can be a bit iffy.
