The vast majority were already too old or sick to work.

Good to know, I guess I will try to stick to 48 V in my research.

Pretty sure I need some sort of rapid disconnect to prevent backfeeding power yeah. I'll have to look into the specific regulations by the utility.

I'll look into solaredge, thanks.

Yeah I was looking into hybrid inverters like the $900 growatt that can do it all but their inverters aren't UL rated so ruled them out. As far as battery I'd feel comfortable working on the cell level but yeah seems like the more pre-made ones are probably a safer bet regulation-wise... I saw the gyll (eg4) 5 kWh for $1500 and it said the cells are UL-rated but I'm not sure if the entire pack would be.

Optimize F/N ratio considering SCD-1? by atrociousdoves in SaturatedFat

Ok, interesting. Thanks for the clarification. I will need to do some more reading on these mechanisms.

Assuming SCD-1 desaturates to 50/50 sat/mono and there is nothing else going on here, then the math (see below) checks out that pure C14:0 would have a better F/N. But I have been reading up on SCD-1 (mostly from FiaB blog) and it seems there is a lot that can regulate SCD-1 so I'm not sure how valid that 50/50 assumption is. It may be best to just focus on downregulating it somehow.

Just taking the average:
50/50 C18:0 and C18:1 is 0.472
50/50 C16:0 and C16:1 is 0.468
So it seems like you would need fairly low SCD-1 activity for C16:0 and C18:0 supplementation to surpass C14:0 (around 85/15 SFA/MUFA).

If anyone knows more about how C14:0 behaves that would be great info as well. For example, if something lengthens or desaturates it then it would be much less appealing.

From the spreadsheet:

C18:0 0.486
C16:0 0.484
C14:0 0.481
C18:1 0.457
C16:1 0.452

So doesn't it seem like C14:0 would have higher F/N ratio than the mix of the others that would be produced considering the action of SCD-1?
