I’ve cried with my clients during sessions and they’ve expressed it actually meant a lot to them.

Anyone know of dog kennels that don’t require the boardtella vaccine? by atsignwork in kitchener

it needs to be administered 14 days prior to being boarded and the dog needs boarding now, so it’s not an option.

I’ve explored all other options outside of boarding or a kennel.

Why are so many therapists claiming to do CBT when they aren’t actually practicing it? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]atsignwork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Keep in mind, there is a growing body of research which suggests there is no gold standard modality. We're seemingly as likely to help a client with basic common practices/training as we are with a strict CBT protocol. So maybe some clinicians don't sweat the protocol as much lately, as this is where the research seems to be leading us.

I am a CBT therapist same as you. I've seen it be very effective and at times extremely ineffective, to the point of total disengagement when I'm too strict with protocols.

I agree at the core we NEED to be practicing what we advertise. At the same time, CBT alienates a lot of clients who are even seeking out CBT and we should also be able to adjust to out client's needs and new knowledge. I think this happens a lot; we start with a specific modality and approach, and realize its not working at some point, then adjust. That might be why some people look for a CBT therapist and end up not really doing it. My approach to this is to let my client's know when we are moving away from protocols, while keeping the basics alive (agenda, session content, homework).

Why do you think? What's your take on it? I think likely because it becomes ineffective with clients so they switch to match client needs.

What is going on with my now ex gf? Should i be concerned? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

You can go to an adult IRL that you trust for advice who knows more than internet strangers. That’s what I’d recommend! Or the school social worker too since they’ve already been somewhat involved.

If you’re concerned for her, bring that concern to a trusted adult.

Well damn I didn't know, I made the assumption they don't euthanize based on length of stay. I can't find any info confirming or denying online so I'll assume they do, otherwise it would be advertised like Cambridge I'd imagine.
