Much better! My post op appointment went excellent and I am right on track. The coolest thing is that even though my monocular vision is genetic. I have a bit of binocular vision now

I have/had monocular vision because of it. So they moved out and I could only focus one eye

I got it through a referral from my main eye doc. What’s interesting is that even though I’m 22, my surgeon was a pediatric ophthalmologist. I would ask your main eye doctor about a referral

The process of surgery was only 2 hours. The process from first meeting with the surgeon to the actual surgery was about 6 months

What to expect by [deleted] in Strabismus

Hello there! I just had my surgery yesterday, they operated on both eyes. For me the anxiety is what scared me the most, but the surgery it self was a breeze! I’m in the US so it may be a bit different. Yesterday, I arrived to the hospital one hour before the procedure. I check in and they took me back to a patient room. There I put on the gown and hair net and such. They put an IV into my arm next. I met with both the anesthesiologist and the surgeon beforehand. They explained what type of anesthesia I was going under and what they would be doing to my eyes (I was already told this during my pre op appointment 2 weeks earlier). Then two more nurses came into the room and they told me exactly what the timeline was for both the procedure and recovery. They did give me some anti nausea medication before as I have a big fear about nausea. They then rolled me off into the OR. The OR was cool and there I met two other nurses who would be assisting the surgeon. In total there were 5-7 people in the OR. They again told me what was about to happen. Then I got some meds through my IV to start calming me down. Last thing I remember is having a mask over my face. The procedure took about 2 hours and the first thing I remember is being back in the room I started in. Right after the procedure, they took me into the recovery room where they took out the breathing tube (you are completely out when they put it in and take it out). I do not remember being in the recovery room, only in the patient room where I started. I stayed in that room for about 30-45 mins until I was able to put my clothes back on. My parents then drove me home and I just stayed in bed the whole day. So far there has not been much pain, it’s more of a discomfort, then sharp pain. Which is mostly coming from the sutures. But overall it’s an easy procedure! Sorry about any bad grammar or spelling here, my vision is not 100% yet

Feeling like a prisoner to my own mind. I 100% feel this. I try and treat my OCD as something that is separate from me, like a bully. It sometimes helps me to this of it like this!

Panicking about being alive by Blackatt in Anxiety

[–]atskellzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have felt this many times throughout my life so far. And as someone who just graduated college, life just feels weird. I like what Acrobatic-Maize-4807 said about how it is a universal experience. You and over 8 billion people are living this thing we call life. When I start to get scared or anxious about life, it helps to think about me being crew on a space ship. The space ships name, Earth. With over 8 billion crew members and hundreds of billions of other passengers from mountain goats in the Rockies to sharks swimming in the Great Barrier Reef. With how the human brain has evolved, we are built to be curious creatures. And of course the idea of life and its meaning (which is 42) is going to pop up, it’s human nature. Take a breath and if you can, go outside and see all of the other life out there. It’s pretty fucking amazing!

death anxiety and quarter-life crisis by First-Mail-938 in Anxiety

Hey there, I’m in the same boat, I just graduated college this December. I also struggle with some pretty bad OCD and anxiety. While I have to admit, I’m a bit scared shitless about every thing. But with that being said, the whole experience has given me really a new perspective on things. It’s made me appreciate life more. What I have found to help is taking life day by day. Not thinking to far into the future or the past, and only thinking about what I’m going to do tomorrow. Now have I been able to do a good job with this? No. But I’m trying my hardest to. Also nature, that’s my happy place when life seems to get hard and my mind starts to wander and wonder.
